Just release a bug-free final version already!

I have that bug that makes my iMac restart when ever I power off my Thunderbolt enclosure, it's been like this for months now!

What? Why another beta so soon? Must have been a major bug issue with the last one; its only been three days!

Off to install another 1.5GB file.

Most likely they see this as a stable release that will last until 10.11.

As for a beta install, I've resisted on my new MBP. It was just such a big improvement for me that I don't want to soil the machine with experimentation.

The problem began though with people and their 3 second attention span. People were getting annoyed with the long time chunks between releases so Apple turned it into a yearly release cycle.

I distinctly recall complaining when it was announced that Apple was going to a yearly release cycle. I remember the Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion era as being the peak of stability of OS X.

Mountain Lion (the first yearly release) seemed slightly unpolished but was alright. Then it was downhill since then, with the OS finally becoming fairly bug-free right before the next version is released.

It's time for a two year cycle again.

Doubt it. Why would've Apple released iOS 8.2 with the Watch app if 8.3 was going to be out before the Watch even came out? I don't think we'll see 8.3 public until May at the earliest, just before WWDC.

So Tim Cook can announce on stage that 8.2 is out "Today".

That said, 8.3's cycle is relatively short thus far.

But according to MacRumors, there will be an 8.4. Before WWDC, presumably.

Please :apple: fix the Bluetooth plus wifi issue. If I turn on Bluetooth my wifi connection goes down.

Agreed. I am pretty tired of filing bugs for Bluetooth and WiFi issue on every developer preview releases.

I don’t have such as problem. Bluetooth and WiFi are both on and working. You need to be looking at the interference environment you live in, not demanding Apple fix an issue that doesn’t exist in Yosemite. Just because Google returns a bunch of hits doesn’t mean the problem is real. If you read it on the Internet that doesn’t mean it’s true.

Plus, if force touch MacBooks are due on the 10th, and 10.10.3 is the only OS that supports FT, it's reasonable to assume that it should be out to public on or just before that.

13" rMBPs are already shipping with Force Touch trackpads, and they have 10.10.2.

At this rate, we will see 10.11 (or will it be 11.0) before 10.10.3 is finalized!

Me thinks 10.11 (following screen shot is from the last 10.10.3 beta installer).

Doubtful. 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 all went to 10.x.5. For example, Mavericks 10.9.3 dropped in Feb 2014 while 10.9.4 dropped in June and 10.9.5 in Sept. We'll see at least 1 more update to Yosemite before 10.11 drops in October, however 10.11 will be previewed at WWDC.

Mature OS

Yosemite represents a mature OS. I hope they do not make great changes. I would rather see bug squashing (there are still a few) in the OS and Applications, better security and better stability.

Then better legacy support reaching back to both older software and older hardware. With good programming and targeted compilation Apple can make Yosemite run on older machines bringing them into the future. One of the great things about Apple hardware is it lasts for so long. Apple is making a tremendous amount of money off of media sales (App Store, iTunes Store, iBooks) so it makes sense to get those hundreds of millions of older machines running the newest MacOS so they can continue buying content.

These older machines get passed down the socioeconomic ladder to kids, parents and folks who can't afford the latest and greatest hardware. This gives them an in to the Apple playground at a lower price so they too can buy content from Apple and developers.

Honestly I wish Apple would skip 10.11 this year.

Releasing a new OS X every year is what caused Yosemite and Mavericks to be fairly buggy releases; not enough time to get the kinks out.

I agree with you there but if Apple does what you suggest, it will still carry version 10.11. Much like 10.6 Snow Leopard release, if only to give the illusion of focus on bug fixes and performance improvements.

For crying out loud.....how many betas to we need..........

Coming to a Mac near you on April 16.......beta 10!

They should keep Yosemite around for at least another year and perfect it before going forward. They didn't used to have a yearly cycle; I remember back when a new OS X release was a rare thing and not fraught with so many problems.

Snow Yosemite!

Well maybe not! I'd rather they didn't screw up core operating features every year. However overhauling apps is something they need to keep doing. Oh and overhauling apps doesn't mean putting a new skin on old apps and ignoring all the faults.

The other thing here is Swift. As much as I want a stable OS we really need for Apple to move forward with Swift. That may mean changes to core parts of the system to better support Swifts way of doing things in libraries and such.

Beyond all of that Apple needs to do something about its pathetic I/O performance especially to storage.

In a sense yes. It isn't so much the new releases every year but rather trying to do too much in one release. Yosemite had bugs all over the place sometimes in inexplicable places, that is sloppy and a sign of trying to do too much in a given time frame.

I would much rather that Apple refine Mac OS on a yearly basis but do so in a focused manner.

It is obvious that Yosemite needs to stabilize! However I fully expect a new named OS at WWDC. In that regard I'm hoping they slow up a bit and build a stable release that is within the capabilities of the development team.

Snow Yosemite!

Or Yosemite Caldera. It is smoking hot!

Apple doesn't advertise Yosemite as 10.10, do they?

Don't they just call it OS X 10, or OS X Yosemite?

So it seems like they can call the next one OS X 11 / OS X <Name... I wonder if they'll ever call one Cupertino...>

They definitely do. The beta says 10.10.3.

I don't have this issue. Does you laptop try and connect to your phone with bluetooth?

No, I have a rMBP and I like to use it with an external screen and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. All from Apple. But I can't because once I turn on Bluetooth on the laptop my wifi drops either entirely or gets extremely slow down to unusable. The issue is absolutely reproducible.

Awesome

I'm thrilled that they're being so diligent with this. Makes me think they're really squashing bugs!

Ohh believe me - the problem does exist and is very real and very reproducible.
