Knowing Apple they won't tell us....and it worked fine in the early beta's without any adverse effects that I could see. Unless they show me this magically caused battery drain (which makes no sense) this is a ridiculous move...I usually am not critical but this makes the biggest feature of 9.3 useless for me a majority of the time.
It certainly is inconvenient, and I agree with you. The only reason why it would make sense to shut night shift off with low battery is if it were actually draining the battery at a faster rate. I have no idea what kind of resources night shift mode actually uses, so I can't really say anything more than that.

It's unfortunate this feature has to be learned (which means it's not 100% intuitive) but I guess we're at the point where features are more complex which require additional adaptation.

I think it's a combination of things - from not allowing 3D Touch to interfere with the primary touch interface, to our usage of a capacitive touch screen for so long (and being unaware of the pressures I placed when doing various things).

The trade off is worth it (in my opinion, 3D Touch is a major breakthrough), but that doesn't offset the oddity of using it in the beginning.

Going from iOS 9.1 on my iPhone 6S Plus the update is 1.7 GB. Seems a pretty big update

You'll find that everyone with ~30mb updates is already on the 9.3 beta. Your size is about right coming from an older iOS version as it basically updates everything initially, whereas the beta releases are delivered as 'Delta' updates with only changed files each week/2 weeks usually

Why can't they just go with a black background instead of making a workaround to the brightness of the overpowering white? It just seems like they're making more work for themselves.
(a) That only works while you're in springboard (ie, the app icons screen) and Apple's own apps. Over time some of the third-party apps will support it but that could take a long time and given how many apps still haven't been updated for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus layout (ie, use the iPhone 5 output and let the OS just upscale it, easily detectable via the larger keyboard).
(b) A UI scheme won't affect original content from pictures, movies, games, etc.
(c) Cutting blue light is significantly more important than cutting overall light

Has anyone else had issues with ATT wifi calling in iOS 9.3? Every time that I wake my Mac up, my FaceTime app opens automatically and a popup about location services for wifi calling appears. It is a nuisance to have this popup occur, especially when I am typing and it interrupts what I am doing. My iPad Air 2 on iOS 9.3 also tells me that wifi calling was unable to be activated. The way that the FaceTime app is behaving almost has me believe that ATT wifi calling is not working on my Mac. I have turned it off and on from my phone and re-added both my Mac and iPad, but the problems still occur.

Here's hoping for a few more fixes
**fngers crossed**

Is there any news about Verizon WiFi calling in iOS 9.3?

It was already added 1 to 3 Beta's ago

Makes me wonder if iOS 10 will throw down all the effort that was put in six betas of 9.3

Probably... Then again doesn't most new iOS incarnations kind of "throw down" the effort of past releases?

Yes I've been having the same problem. Very annoying.

Well, maybe you should, as the only reasonable explanation of a feature not being available in Low Power Mode is, well, it taking up more power.
And maybe Apple should imagine a way to implement Night Shift that doesn't use any significant additional power. People have suggested that the slow transition is taking up power. However, that only ever takes a few second at a time and could be switched to an abrupt change in Low Power Mode. Others have said that Night Shift works by sending frequent notifications to all 'running' apps to inform them what colour temperature they should aim for. But again that could be switched to a much longer interval during Low Power Mode.
Maybe Night Shift is a bolt-on process that runs constantly (when the screen is on) to 'transform' the screen output.

What's the technical reason behind that screen anyway? Does it mean something specific happened under the hood?
No, They started doing it a couple years ago. Probably to make people feel like something major has changed. Which in this case there is a large improvement overall to iOS 9. It always takes them about 6 months to get anywhere close to what the OS was "intended" to be ever since iOS 7 came out. The sad new reality. So dont expect a smooth iOS 10 until this time next year in 2017.

iOS 9.3 has THE best version of Safari yet.

The tab thumbnails are fixed? Almost never does it display the actual tab content when viewing all tabs. Same problem with task switching overall in iOS (app thumbnails).

It should be at the display driver level. Anything else is a ridiculous kludge. It shouldn't need any additional CPU either.

And what about all the freaking BUGS in iOS? Anything fixed????
