And maybe Apple should imagine a way to implement Night Shift that doesn't use any significant additional power. People have suggested that the slow transition is taking up power. However, that only ever takes a few second at a time and could be switched to an abrupt change in Low Power Mode. Others have said that Night Shift works by sending frequent notifications to all 'running' apps to inform them what colour temperature they should aim for. But again that could be switched to a much longer interval during Low Power Mode.
Maybe Night Shift is a bolt-on process that runs constantly (when the screen is on) to 'transform' the screen output.

Given that Low Power Mode kills Night Shift even if the color temperature was already altered, there's probably more to it than the mere transition animation. Either way, I'm happy we're getting the feature at all; it's one of the remaining high-hanging fruits (among, say, being able to set defaults) on my iOS wishlist.

There's always a 10.0 to make Night Shift better.

Some few issues left to fix until GM, apps still crashes on startup/launch (they worked in 9.2.X), apps like Real Racing 3 and Willys (app for a Swedish grocery store), since they worked in 9.2.X Apple must have changed something, so who fixes the app crashes? Apple or the app developers?

Depends on the cause. Maybe the apps have been using deprecated APIs which have now been removed; in that case, the developers were sloppy and need to fix it on their end.

No, They started doing it a couple years ago. Probably to make people feel like something major has changed. Which in this case there is a large improvement overall to iOS 9. It always takes them about 6 months to get anywhere close to what the OS was "intended" to be ever since iOS 7 came out. The sad new reality. So dont expect a smooth iOS 10 until this time next year in 2017.

Bleah. It must be something more than that, because iCloud Photo Library did a sync reset and now it has to download 20,000 thumbnails again.

Starting to wonder why I bother with it.

The animation is choppy and has been that way since the phone was released. Unlock phone in portrait, switch it to landscape and use 3D Touch on an app then compare it to portrait.

I tried what you said in Safari using peek & pop for a bookmark (same one both times) - I really can't see a difference.

Not to say that there isn't one, of course. I wish I was at home to be able to link a video cap, then you could tell me if I'm crazy or not.

A new welcome feature is that you can finally sync your PDF files in iBooks via iCloud. I don't have the Mac OS X beta on my Mac so I don't know if it is supported there as well, but I would assume so..

Now I only need notetaking support in PDFs to use it :)

So night shift is still disabled in low power mode (night shift option disabled in CC and battery section of settings with low power mode on), yet asking Siri to turn on night shift while in low power mode still works. This is so odd.

Just a heads up, this update forces a reset sync on iCloud Photo Library. So your photo library may be a bit wonky for a bit after the update if you use it. Worry not, it'll re-sync and be fine but this can take a while (hours) if you have tens of thousands of photos.

I've not been able to do an OTA update for at least several betas. Verification always fails. Happening to anyone else?

Hopefully this makes the beta play nice with my Automatic car OBD reader. I love that thing but with beta 5 it would not connect. Had to roll back to 9.2.1 for it to work.

TIL that MacRumors has a YouTube Channel. Only took me 10 years... maybe I've seen their videos but didn't know it was from MR.

For me it didn't.

Did they fix the damn problem with Nightmode during low power mode? The exact time I want to use nightmode, at the end of the day when I ussually have low battery I can't use nightmode...makes no damn sense.

This is the most ridiculous comment.
Obviously it takes battery to run nightshift, so it doesn't make sense to leave it enabled if you're trying to squeeze every last bit out of your dying battery.
Your comment reads like: "wtf?? why is my phone not querying Twitter every two seconds for new tweets when I'm in power saving mode?? I mean, it's when I'm relaxing in the evening that I most like to read tweets.. & also my battery is low. Fix this Apple!"
See how silly that sounds??
My evening habits have NOTHING to do with the reality of what does or does not take up battery. I must make a choice- do I want to disable some things that actually may be handy, in order to triple my dying battery's life span... or enjoy them all, but leave the battery life the same?
Surely you can recognize that I couldn't have it both ways, yeah? That defies all logic.

It DEFINITELY does, in the last beta discussion a developer explained why.
You'd have to search, but it made sense.

I read that article and while I understand what he is saying I can't believe it causes more then a 1-5% increase in battery usage. If it does there has to be a more efficient way to do it....Apple has to realize that its toward the end of the day the most people want both night mode and low power mode...when the sun is down and there phone is getting low from a full day of usage.

And I'm sorry comparing fetching of twitter posts every 2 seconds to changing the hue of the screen is a terrible comparison....one requires reaching out over your cell or wifi network every 2 seconds while the other should be a relatively simple on device change...

The issue on on the home screen using 3D Touch on app icons.
