I'm running Mavericks 10.9.5 alongside El Capitan beta 6 on the same Mac Mini (late 2009) in the partitioned HD.

I did XBench on both the OSes and I got better results for Mavericks, far better specially in Quartz Graphics Test ( 209.36 vs 102.02 !? ) and User Interface Test (188.98 vs 18.71 !?!?!? ) , still El Capitan running faster and smoother than Mavericks in every aspects.

How it is possible?

Benchmarks are running tests on GPU, CPU etc...
The OS response is dictated by the animation speed, fluidity - overall the Experience of the user using the interface.

CPU and GPU testing mainly relate to drivers and OS calls.

Well you shouldn't be using the developer previews if you are not a registered developer. Use the public betas instead.

Irregardless of worthless point, especially when you don't even need to be a registered developer to access those files. If it mattered that much, they would make developers register their Macs prior to installing the beta software.
It turned out that the update had in fact installed, however did not show that it had in the updates tab. A number of people I know had the same issue when updating.

Having the same issue with Chrome. I'll try to switch to Chrome beta to see if it's any better. I had gone back to release since that had a problem with 1Password. Betas are just no fun! :)

After a couple of days, this has eased into a smooth machine to a large extent, i believe it was spotlight indexing, like the person after mentioned, there are still a few random beachballs, but nowhere close in comparison to what i was having till yesterday. All in all, a very smooth system now, albeit a few beachballs.

Guys,

Been busy lately so falling behind on testing El Capitan. My test mbp is stuck on beta 3 and refuses to update at all costs.

Tried restarting and using the code again but nothing works.

Any ideas?

And yes I have a valid dev licence and no its not a public test build. :)

I don't know what is going on but after I installed DP6 I have "no audio devices detected" which is odd cause the chime on boot is playing perfectly fine. Tried PRAM reset and reboots many times. :(

Disk Utility does not want to open either. an internal exception error is returned and it crashes when i launch it.

Did you make sure you installed the firmware updates as well (especially the one for DP6). Not sure, i have no issues with any hardware, do have some beach balling randomly, but that is mostly when i have office products open. (I'm on a new macbook - rMB 1.2, 512). But i have seen people report similar audio issues in the developer forum.

My test mbp is a 2.8ghz 2009 15inch model. So no firmware updates since june 09. I filed a bug report for now. Wondering if this is to do with the fact i installed the DP6 package directly over the DP3 build i was running. I might have to do a clean install and see if that fixes anything. Thanks for the help :)

you definitely can't do that. you will have to go in progress all the way from DP3 to DP6 one by one, since these are delta updates and not combo updates.

Apple has not released a combo update for any of the dev packages till now. That probably is definitely your issue.

Yeah I realised it wasn't a delta update. Rookie error. Time to do lots of downloading and installing..

[Update] all sorted and up to date. time to see the improvements :)

I'm still getting a few of those crashing errors that you can ignore on a number of applications. Other than that, this DP is completely stable! Looks like this is the Snow Leopard we've been waiting for guys :D

It's "regardless"

This is bul1sh1t. I use the beta's as a non-developer myself because i don't really give a damn, but don't "justify" it with this kind of nonsense.

DP6 has been the smoothest so far, it seems to have fixed an issue with Java runtime based applications randomly crashing due to conflicts with graphics engine. It also doesn't crash as much as previous DPs when waking up from sleep with external displays connected. Overall if this is the shape of things to come, then its looking very promising :)

Hello there,
has anyone problems with airdrop here? With the current dev beta 6 my iphone 6 with ios9 just can not find my mbp mid 2014. With Yosemite and ios8.4 it works perfect.
I reboot both devices, turn bt, wlan, aidrop off an on again etc. but nothing fix the problem.

Yes, this appears to be my mistake. It had the (/) symbol over it and wasn't working in several betas.

It actually appears to be working fine for me in this build. (Both 6.4 and 7.0 beta)
When 6.4 stopped working, I just stopped using it and switched to 7.0 beta, so I didn't notice that it started working again in beta 5. I assumed it was like old versions of VMWare in the Yosemite beta, where they intentionally blocked it and required an app update.

In fact Xcode 6.4 was blocked because of a framework whose deprecation was pending, and Apple seems to have removed the said framework in a few betas of El Capitan. This is the message I read when it crashed upon me.

The best solution for me was really to create a new Yosemite partition and then work on 6.4 in that partition. It's not very practical because I have a lot of stuff that I use other than Xcode when I work on my game, like Pixelmator, our Facebook dev conversation, but then again I took that 4-hours to do a correct setup and it's a workaround that works.
