That sounds a bit like what APFS does with Containers. Not saying i know much about those or about these others.vdo and stratis on a Linux system allow you to thinly provision a partition. You can take a 10GB and turn it to 10T.

It’s frustrating. I imagine there are considerable security hurdles to overcome to enable that use case though. How would you stop someone hijacking your computer simply by sitting beside you in a Cafe? They’ll need to create some means for the second device to ‘trust’ the first one. Given Apple’s ‘just works’ mantra, I imagine they’ll want to make it work with minimum effort first, and make a judgement call on whether new use cases are worth prioritising over other new features.Or between two Macs, one of which isn't signed into iCloud at all.
My work iMac wasn't signed into iCloud at all until a few months ago because I needed it to receive 2FA codes for signing into an Apple Developer account. It would literally not be signed into iCloud at all still if I hadn't needed that.
I'm pretty sure his post was meant as sarcasm....Big Sur is far from bug free.Until a year from now when we find out encryption in big sur was always hopelessly broken and foreign governments have taken advantage of it, or have been taken advantage of by it, as we have for basically all the other os releases.
I'll have to look into that. I've being using vdo more than stratis which I think is Red Hat proprietary. I've set it up in a VM and have been able to transfer files the VM.That sounds a bit like what APFS does with Containers. Not saying i know much about those or about these others.
I was hoping this meant they had backed down on Safari. Are we going to have to wait 4 years like we did with those funky keyboards?
-----My, I certainly hope not.Yes.
