we know iOS 11 *is* capable of running “normally”, I’m so tired of seeing all of these complaints about it, just do a factory reset.

Willing to bet most of these people having issues also ran the betas before upgrading to the GM.

I am sorry but that is not a valid answer. I did not run single beta on my phone. I went from 10.3.3 which was silky smooth to 11.0.3. The difference is like I went back in time in phones. The response of do a full wipe and re-build is not acceptable. I am not supposed to just loose my iMessages every year cause apple can't be bothered to write an OS that is not so laden with bugs that I have to contort my self to make it work passable. Thats the thing apples official line is wipe and restore from backup which is the same things as upgrade. If the issue is a bad setting file then they need to take ownership of that and make it right. They need to test against real world users data migration. This every year oh well mine is fine wipe yours thing has to end. I know what your saying. I do it I have done it and will probably have to do it. That is still not an excuse. iOS the windows 7 of mobile operation systems. When it does not work just wipe it and start over every 6 months cause well....... thats the only way to make it work right signed apple

Many people don't realize this, but iOS 11 turned on push email (in a new settings location) and background app refresh. Go to Accounts & Passwords to disable push. This brought my battery back to normal.

I had both of these enabled prior to iOS 11. Hopefully my battery issues can be fixed by something else.

I did run the betas but on a different device. That device is actually functioning better now than my main device is that only got the public release.

There are close to 500 million people on iOS 11. A few hundred (or thousand) posting about issues online is hardly significant.

What were you saying about critical reasoning again?

This is probably due to just not hearing about it. The way I know of the several people I do who have problems is because I specifically asked them. Unless people are just randomly walking up to you bemoaning their iOS woes, you won't know about it. I have yet to personally find someone who doesn't have some kind of new issue.

Any improvement in animations? In my iPad Pro 9.7 i get a annoying slow animation when maximazing safari app and even a normal open close folder has some lag sometimes.

Seriously, how hard is it to fix the calculator bug?!? It’s so stupid, it just needs to be fixed already!!

They're too busy making up new emojis. We need one sitting on the John looking at an iPad before the calculator bug is fixed.

While I am personally ambivalent toward emoji, I suspect the big issue is that Apple spend so much time espousing the new emoji rather than new technology.

New emoji? fine... but what else you got?

Face ID, first party eGPU support, a new file system, and a whole interface paradigm that is catered to no physical button on the face of their phones. What else do you need?

I hope they fix my Caller ID bug. Since iOS 11 everyone on Curaçao has lost their Caller ID. Just numbers now. No clue who's calling. Though I'm getting better ;-)

I love that some of the Emojis are so clearly meant to be used in a sarcastic fashion.

Those sound like great features but are yet to be proven in the real world. That said, Apple certainly does bring new things and I wasn't trying to suggest otherwise. I was referring to their advertising where, for reasons beyond my comprehension, they choose to portray emoji as a big deal. It's not.

Just saw this on Twitter....what happens when an X owner lifts up phone to read notification vs. someone else picking up the phone.

So sad that innovation in Apple has been relegated to emojis...

Still waiting for some hardware true innovation. iMac design was not updated in the last 9 years. Mac Mini, Macbook pros, etc...

How sad....

They finally brought back Reachability support for the Cover Sheet/Lock Screen/Notification Center (whatever you might call it). There's also a slightly tweaked UI when invoking Reachability from within an app:

Of course Apple adding new emoji in a point release software update means no one in the company is working on anything else. So sad that Mac Rumors comments have been relegated to garbage like this.

iPhone 6 Plus user here. iOS 11 with clean restore and updated to 11.1 public beta 2. It is definitely better than official 11.0.x builds, but using the browser is still laggy as heck (tried both Chrome and Safari browsers). Typing in a browser on a page is very laggy, and a certain web browser based game/app that I play also feels the affects/slowdowns. Would go back to iOS 10.3 if I had the option.

7 devices at home without issues. 20 fellow employees at work without any issues either.
Sure it “works” but how is battery life? How is lag opening apps where there was none in ios10? There is tons of issues with iOS 11.
My 7+ used to be super fast and now is laggy with a lot of things and battery life is complete crap now.
Works and works better than previous iOS is completely different things.
