It doesn't matter. The profile is for all public iOS betas. I just installed it now and my phone is updating to today's release.

I awaited so they would release a third Beta so it would more likely not be super buggy, because I really want the new music app, but now...

For me it only offers Beta 2 :('

EDIT: Even though when downloading it said Beta 2, after installing I have the newest Beta 3 features. So, yay new music app!

The music buttons on the lower left are still small. I have the public beta on my iPad mini retina.

Ah wow I hadn't seen that, thanks for the tip. This whole Music app feels more confusing than ever before, like Apple just don't quite have a cohesive vision of what it's meant to be. Or maybe we're just witnessing the predatory work for the Beats integration.

Something new is always going to be more "confusing" than before. The real test is how easy does it feel after you've used it for a while. You had to get used to the previous versions. The only people who can really speak on intuitiveness immediately are people who've had no previous experience with a Music app.

That's how we test things in the UX world.

Its b2 for public testers and b3 for developers. Same build just different beta numbers in the title.

Do you notice a substantial difference, or any difference at all? Do you run it on your phone or any kind of high-end audio equipment?

There are some differences in respect to most songs' dynamic range. That allows you to hear more of the song, and instruments are more easily perceived.

I run it on my phone and my Mac, using a FiiO E12 amp and a pair of Audio-Technica M50x. Not exactly extremely high-end, but you don't need very expensive equipment to notice differences in SQ.

The difference is noticeable to Spotify, but not to my FLAC tracks unless they are a remaster from different years (for example, comparing the various Dark Side Of The Moon's remasters I have to the 2011 version on Tidal, some differences exist).

So if you have a big CD library you can rip to FLAC, Tidal isn't worth it. But if you have decent audio equipment and want the best quality when you're listening to streamed music, absolutely.

Did you submit feedback about this?

I have. Never heard anything. This is just my #1 pet peeve with 'Music' on iOS (iPad). Otherwise iTunes is and always has been great.

I would take the horizontal cover art like on the iPhone. Just something built in to browse the Music library more quickly. To me it seems like common sense but it must not fit with their desktop vs. iOS look or something.

Anyone else having a problem where the music app shuts off when it's in the background? Anytime I leave the music app screen, the music fades out. Happening to me every time. Pretty huge problem.

I can see it getting faster and less buggy though it stil reboots. It's now much more pleasant to use and the orientation bug seems to have been fixed!

Not here. I was running it in the car along with Tom Tom, switching between the two was normal.

How do I sign up for a public beta?

I was under the impression that if you were on the OS X public beta (I am) that you would be on the iOS as well (I don't appear to be). This is a good question.

You had to have signed up and been selected for iOS beta. It was invite only and not tied to OS X beta. There is an Apple Profile that has to be installed for it to be available for public test. Otherwise obtain the IPSW file to update to the developer version (b3)

Trying to remember, was there a separate sign up for it?

Yup, that basically instructs you to go to the general Apple public beta program site (which was expanded from OS X to include iOS as well, as I mentioned in my earlier reply) and then talks about seeing an option to enroll your iOS device to receive beta updates--but that's the thing, many people don't see that, they just get signed up for the general Apple public beta program, and get the OS X beta offered, but don't get any options or offers for iOS (while others do).

The music app isn't respecting "skip when shuffling," when playing music via Match. (Shuffle instantly loaded my up-next with the half of my music library I have set to skip on shuffle, so I'm spending more time skipping songs than actually listening to anything. :()

I'm not officially a beta tester, so the feedback assistant isn't allowing me to report the issue.

I freaking love the look of the new music app, so I'll be happy when the bugs are squashed.
