I don't understand why the "artist, album" etc navigation still isn't static. It doesn't make sense to have to scroll all the way back up to the top to change the view. Just make it so that it scrolls with you until it's off the screen then stays pinned to the top.

the global search feature in this music app allows you to search for an artist and view a list of artists, albums, or songs with that name. It displays album only without the songs listed.

interesting that it didnt carry over to the regular view for music.

Ah wow I hadn't seen that, thanks for the tip. This whole Music app feels more confusing than ever before, like Apple just don't quite have a cohesive vision of what it's meant to be. Or maybe we're just witnessing the predatory work for the Beats integration.

song ratings

any idea where the song ratings went? i use this quite a bit for smart playlists

----------

found it, just tapping on the song title

I'm surprised people aren't just using Spotify. Who 'buys' music now?
Spotify isn't nearly as good as people make it out to be. It's still missing a crap ton of artists I listen to (indie but still doesn't suit my needs).

What I'm surprised they didn't change is all the white space. Isn't the iOS 7-8 UI supposed to put an emphasis on content?

I notice that CarPlay with my Pioneer NEX8000 deck runs a lot smoother and is more responsive with 8.4. I used to get a lot of freezes and unresponsive screen touches but it's working much better now. Also it shows the currently playing screen by default now like it should instead of always showing the music library screen.

well they did just change it back soooooo ...
The mere fact that they shipped the still current arrangement in the first place shows that the other arrangement is not blindingly obvious, otherwise they would have never even considered it.

I think the "album list" in artist view is for four or more albums. I have one artist with four albums and it's album viewed, then I have an artist with three albums and it's still a track-for-track list.

Music app..retarded.

- we need 4 constant bottom tabs, not 3, and at the very least I need to be able to include which options I want, so I can get there instantly. Instead I have to go to the main music part, page up, then choose from that middle word which only seems to be there because it won't fit anywhere else. You know what could be there? SHUFFLE.
- Art on Now Playing is up under my status bar. They couldn't have sacrificed a little more space on the transparent blob so it could sit in a logical place?
- Buttons on NP are dull and barely there. The little black squiggles don't cut it.
- Too much crap everywhere and the constant need for big photos on all the other screens is giving me uncomfortable flashbacks to Windows Media Player.
- "The music you love is never more than a tap away"...actually, going back to the first point, it's now a few extra taps.

Is there a reason my beta 3 is not showing up in either iTunes or in software updates? I just updated to beta 2 to see if that would fix the issue. Not the case... Anyone have any suggestions?? Really want to try the new interface!

To address your first point, I don't think "music", "shuffle" and "radio" are the only buttons that are going to be there - I think once the subscription service comes in they're just going to build that right into the Music app, which is why they've just left it for now. We'll see though.

Finally! Been waiting for fixes to the music app since iOS 7! I sure hope you can delete more than one track at a time now - managing music in the cloud is a real hassle as it is. I typically Download entire albums from iCloud as I want them, but once I run out of space, I delete everything and start over again, kind of ridiculous! The album view and in-app "show all music" option are nice changes. I'm sick of having to navigate back and forth to Settings>Music every time I want to change views.

Is it me or do some of the fonts look different through out the phone, not just in the new music app. I feel like my notification center notifications are bolder with a larger font. I could just be seeing things.
