Well, wifi seems to broken on my 16“ m1pro. The menu bar icon shows the usual „no internet connection“ but the wifi switch is turned off and grayed out. In in settiongs/wifi it shows the wifi switch on and shows to be connected to my wifi and no issues with internet connection. Well, sadly all apps seem to be following the menu bar icon. Wifi works with the ios 16 and ipados 16 betas with no issues.

Anyone else have those issues?

Edit: yes, i turned it off and on again, and then some …
That's a huge problem to have in a beta....hotfix probably coming soon I'd expect if its widespread.

I have the same laptop like you just not ready to try Ventura haha doing too much production work on this to own it. Tried an earlier Ventura beta and had to go back
Yeah, it’s a personal mac, got one for production too. Definitely not ready to be a daily driver, as has been the case for me since the last beta, tbh.

There were a couple of people having this issue in the Dev Beta 5 thread. Someone had luck by removing the known network and re-adding it.

Updated, I've run public beta since first available.

Spotlight is now just gone. Straight up gone. Just me? M1 Air

Hi,
In the new Ventura Weather app, I’m unable to select the Severe Weather or Precip switches to turn “notifications” on/off for my Current Location or any stored locations.

Is this a bug or do I have a setting preventing this? I’m using an M1 MBA. Thx for any insight!

I hope you are happy with your current wallpaper because weirdly the one bug I'm experiencing is that the wallpaper prefpane isn't working in System Preferences. In the grand scheme of things, not a dealbreaker though.

If you just want the "latest", I would say an emphatic NO. If you are willing to accept an OS that doesn't have all the wrinkles ironed out, and report your findings to Apple, then YES.
Agreed.

Not sure why everyone wants to jump on the betas right away. I mean, either way, you’re probably going to use the OS for about a year… So would you rather put up with buggy betas for over a third of the year (June/July - September/October), and then a stable OS for the rest (September/October - June/July)? Or use a stable and more polished OS for a whole year (September/October - September/October)?

Don’t get me wrong…some betas can be stable, and the final release might have some bugs. But why take the chance, especially if it’s your only device and not really participating by providing feedback?

I saw it happen on my M1 24" iMac, and M1 Max MBP with dev beta 5. This is because of a feature added by Apple for the Mail application in Ventura. Specifically the Mail application allows users to program the time and date at which an email message will be sent automatically using a programmed task, and gets stuck in a loop. Just something to be aware of in case you see Safari or some other application launching slower some time while using this beta 5. :)
Ha that is what’s causing this, interesting.

Since Monterey we've been experiencing and seeing spotlight issues in tons of machines (most M1 / pros / max & some new M2s also). Stops responding, stops showing specific results or show none at all, starts reindexing all the time out of nothing, etc.

Unreal an iconic functionality like this, which many rely heavily for productivity, gets completely ruined as well.

Fixed my own problem! Here's what I had to do:

1) “Enable” notifications for the Weather app in macOS Settings>Notifications>Weather.

2) Then, go into Weather>Settings and turn on Notifications:

Oh hey, I fixed it. Realised I could right click to set an image as a wallpaper and doing this also made the wallpaper system pref work again.

Interesting... I've had the same issue in iOS as well. Makes me wonder if the iOS and macOS codebase is becoming more unified than we think.

It would be nice to get an error message or a pop-up when wanting to tweak this setting letting you know you first have to “allow” notifications from the app in Systems Settings. Many 3rd party iOS apps already do this when you need to turn location on for them to function properly.

Yep, I think it's Apple not following their own advice to check to see if the notifications setting has been set yet (in case the user reset all settings). In iOS, the prompt to allow notifications will pop up when opening the Weather app on a fresh install...but if you reset settings, it won't ask if you want to allow notifications again like most other apps do.

Had the same issue, what fixed it for me was to go to system settings>Network>right click Wifi and click make service active, hope it helps

My iMac (4K-2017) has been having major issues with public beta 2. Went ahead immediately to get beta 3 as soon as it got available. However, during installation itself, it’s in an endless reboot loop. Keeps giving this error before every restart!

Getting better, minus the powerd issue sucking 104% of CPU. But you can kill that with ' sudo pmset schedule cancelall'

Beta 4 had a bad thunderbolt bug (on Alder Lake) where the bus (if connected to a tb4 dock) would drop out during resume from sleep... So far with beta5, no drop outs. Monterey 12.5 still works better ...
