I am quite happy with Mojave, the new UI of Big Sur show that Apple is trying to make MacOS into IpadOS - some things are quite nice; like the option to side-load iOS applications, but the implementation of for example the Control Center shows that they have not really though the whole thing through.

Microsoft painted them self into a corner with the new UI they introduced with Window 10 - and they are still trying to fix it years later, and looks like Apple is going to do the same thing.

I cannot wait for Big Sur version 2 or 3 as it looks like Apple really have messed up....

Kernel panics are usually caused by kernel extensions which are added by 3rd party software. Remove the kext and the panics usually go away hence why Apple is ditching them. Take Symantec EndPoint Protection, it protects your Mac by crashing it.
In my case I have no k-exts.
3 macs all with same issue.
Started Catalina. It’s an XNU kernel issue.

Will 11.2 finally fixe the retention of the OS dialogue window size preference not being retained? It is a pain having to resize and I am sure we have lost productivity just resizing the dialog boxes.
I still haven't seen a straight answer from anyone on this. Some say yes, some say no. I'm finally getting around to installing the update, so I guess I'll find out soon. Problem is, it seems that it can occur on one computer and not another that is configured almost exactly the same.

There are many reported and acknowledged open bugs since development last summer. In all my years owning Mac's since 1999 this is by far the worst release - and I worked on OS X 10.4 - 10.6 with then SVP of Engineering Bertrand Serlet (Snow Leopard is still one of the most solid releases I've used).

I'd rather Apple return to 2-3 year release cycles with new beta's every 2 weeks requiring a full system wipe and install as it allowed us to debug the core OS without third party apps and plugin's being possible factors. Serlet stayed on for 10.7 but left over disagreements with Cook regarding OS X becoming a free annual release in order to entice more developers and consumers into the Mac App Store. I'd rather pay $129 for a solid release than a rushed and buggy OS.

Also loathe the iPadOS UI on a Mac. Finder navigation is terrible with a washed out UI - no matter how much I tweaked my MacBook Pro or Mac Pro's displays for contrast, brightness, etc or used Dark Mode, I couldn't adjust to the changes. iPadOS/iOS works best on small touchscreen devices not a workstation or any desktop/laptop. So much wasted space as well.
But macOS is on a 2-year release cycle—it just overlaps with the previous release by 1 year ;)

Public release can’t be that far away now
Does anyone know if 11.2 allows M1 macbook pro to use 2 external displays instead of just 1? Pretty sad that when I upgraded I just assumed it’ll work with my dual monitor setup and I don’t want to go back to using the external gpu ports

It's partially fixed - After resizing, the open and save dialog windows open at the new size.
BUT resizing of the sidebar in the dialog window is not retained. Position of the window (e.g. off centre) isn't retained either.

Still no mouse disconnect with RC3 so far.

Hopefully this isn't a bad sign for 11.2... 😂

The RBG issue seems to be missed, hope those who are using an M1 Mac and an external display realize they are receiving the incorrect color format to their monitors. It should of course be RGB but intstead in pretty much all cases reported it's stuck in YPBPR. This is a lower quality signal used in TVs mostly, as it can send the image using less data. It may look fine however the potential of the monitor is not in any way used to it's fullest, especially an issue for those doing colour critical work. Please check your settings on the display itself to see what color format it is in, and if you find the issue please send feedback to apple.

After installing, I'm seeing the same results you are. I simply can't understand how a single developer (St. Clair Software, with Default Folder X) can fix this issue, but Apple can't.

Some monitors not all. My Eizo is in RGB mode over DisplayPort.

Oh Apple, oh Apple, so many of us in this environment can’t afford to upgrade to Big Sur compliant macs from our Catalina compliant units. Please for the sake of us, make Big Sur available for our high spec processor and memory units like my Mac mini late 2012.
Why? Does Catalina suddenly not do what you've been using it to do all along?

Not production quality yet at 11.1 and uses too much DRAM at ~4GB just booting to desktop without running anything vs Linux at <=1GB or Windows 10 ~2GB
What're you basing "too much" on, and what, exactly, are you going to do with the RAM *other* than allow the OS to use it? Do you get extra-special brownie points in some Linuxer forum for maximizing a free space number?

Yikes and how fitting...

Still haven't moved from RC2, just going to leap to the GM eventually but haven't had any disconnects for like 2 days now with Magic Mouse 2

even at a coffee shop with BT congestion

pretty sweet!

Well, that's the thing,... I really do not connect to anything dodgy. Usually, I keep 20-25 tabs open, mostly work-related things like company portal, G suite, Youtube, and sometimes Netflix. And it keeps crashing on average two times a day. Not sure if that came with Big Sur or the new Safari, as I updated them both around the same time.
If anyone is interested, since updating to 11.2 10 days ago, Safari problem is completely gone. 11.2.1 works without any issues as well.
