37 stores in Manhattan and zero in brooklyn.

perfect example of tone deaf. NYC is bigger than manhattan Apple. You make great products, but your finger is far from being on the pulse of what happens in America's largest city.

all the subways criss cross manhattan so that people from staten island, queens, brooklyn, the burbs and the bronx go there. brooklyn is a PITA to get to even for a lot of brooklyn locations. as soon as my wife moved from brooklyn we stopped going there unless it's to visit family. the BQE sucks along with the parking in park slope

i find it's easier to go to one of the long island stores than manhattan. and the whole foods store is right by the manhasset one

actually WE'D rather YOU stay in manhattan as well. But for those of us who live here (~2.5 million) and enjoy apple products as much as the next man, it does become a hassle for us to have to travel into Manhattan all the time for genius appointments. Especially when you are lugging a 24inch iMac.

People like you have ruined my borough

So where in Brooklyn would they place it that is more easily accessible to all parts of Brooklyn than Manhattan? Every train (except the G, but you probably wont leave the G with the iMac you entered it with) in Brooklyn goes through the 10 sq. mi. area that is Manhattan. The same cannot be said of any part of Brooklyn.

Atlantic Avenue is literally the only place where more than 25% of the people in Brooklyn would choose over Manhattan anyways. And with the Nets (sorry, New Yorkers) coming there, it might actually be possible. But Brooklyners fought tooth and nail against any development in that area, so I am not going to blame Apple for not wanting to get involved.

EXACTLY! If I want to go to Williamsburg Brooklyn, I have to go thru Manhattan from my corner of Brooklyn.

You're thinking too small! Apple will buy the white house and make the entire building the largest apple store to date. Down with the american flag and up with the apple logo. The United States of :apple: Loves it...

The funny thing is I bet most of the people here would love that.

When I visited NYC on a bus tour a few years ago, they dropped us off at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Knowing that I'd never be able to appreciate the whole museum in the few hours that we had, I instead took a superficial tour, then walked to the Fifth Avenue Apple Store. :D I followed that with a walk through Central Park before returning to meet the rest of the bus tourists. I feel I got the better tour than they did :D

Many people on this board would kill to have an Apple store just a half-hour subway ride away.

But hey, keep rubbing their faces in it. I'm sure they'll all think it's really funny and won't resent you at all.

so you're another poor soul that lives in bay ridge. that was a hellish commute for me for a year back in 2000-2001. 90 minutes each way on the R train

Can't you just put it on the back of your fixie?

you're thinking Portland (and Williamsburg). Lucky for me Brooklyn is much bigger (and more diverse) than the tiny section that you're referencing.

But if you dont live or visit here I suppose it would be easy to assume based off pop culture that you can sum up 2.5 million people so simply.

This was just common sense - GCT commuters (like myself) are some of the most hardcore mobile device users there are... 2+ hours of train commuting a day is a totally different experience with iPhone and iPad 3G, I spend the entire trip using them.

Yeah, I also used to live on the G (in 1995 before it was a shuttle) and that was no picnic to Williamsburg either but mostly because the trains only ran like every 20minutes. Weekends and late nights were the worst.

one of the things that's very different about Manhattan and Brooklyn is that a lot of us have cars. So they could put it anywhere, as long as there is a parking lot, i'd be fine (so long as I dont have to drive out to Kings Plaza, which wouldnt make sense anyway). But one could easily go in Red Hook, where there is a ton of under developed/utlized land stretching from Bklyn bridge park to the waterfront. There's also the not so desirable (as of yet) area on 4th ave where Staples and Uhaul are. Plenty of space there, and trains that run near it for those who dont drive.
