Apple has now completely sold out of its launch day iPad allotment in its U.S. online store, with all 18 models now offering shipping estimates of March 19 for new orders. Accounting for shipment time, customers placing orders now shouldn't expect them to arrive until the middle of the week following the device's launch next Friday.

A similar situation exists in the Canadian online store, while the stores for Australia and Singapore quote shipping dates of March 22 for all models. Stores for Apple's European launch countries (France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK) and Japan are all quoting shipping estimates of 2-3 weeks for new orders.

Apple is planning to launch the new iPad in 25 additional countries on March 23, but with new orders in the first round of launches already bumping up against that window, Apple may be hard-pressed to have sufficient stock available to meet launch demand in the second round of debuts.

This is a great example of why you should have a decision made within 20 minutes of it being out in the store..:)

I don't need the new iPad. I don't need the new iPad. I don't need the new iPad.

Must... resist...

Got my order in on the 7th, today's status shows 'preparing to ship'. Woot!!!!
This is actually the first time I have pre-ordered a new product so I have it on 'launch day', it is fun to finally be a memeber of the club.

mine didn't ship yet but my delivery date still says the 16th. can't wait to draw on that display.

what happened to the shell cover that was supposed to match the smart cover? i love my smart cover but want a matching shell. i just had a basic sticker on the back for protection on my iPad 2.

I pre-ordered on the first day and it's still processing. =/

Getting nervous.

I'm sure it's a matter of boxing up each individually and then placing thousands of them all on the same plane with people's iPads that have already "shipped."

Not to worry, our iPad order still says processing too.

Apple haters always say "the new [insert product here] isn't new at all! Nobody's going to buy it!"

Yet this happens every time :)

My iPad will never be shipped :(

The first batch lasted much longer than I anticipated.

Waiting for the inevitable "it took 48 hours to sell out - I told you it was a crappy update" :)

Given the massive amount of these things they apparently moved into the US and the number of pre-orders that are also drop shipping directly from China, it is an indicator of just how popular the iPad is that it sold out in only 48 hours.

It will be interesting to see the launch sales numbers. Another home run for Apple in spite of all the nay-sayers.

First it was "Delivered by March 16" and now it's "Ships by March 19". There you have it: The difference between delivered and ships. I'm getting mine on the 16th. It's been shipped to me already.

I almost ordered last night, but waited until today. *sigh* Like someone else said, I'm surprised the first batch lasted as long as it did.
Oh, well. At least it won't be too long of a wait! :)

Guess they should have started manufacturing earlier. Doesn't look like they could have increased output much.

They are probably prepared to take more risk in manufacturing more given the huge sales numbers they can anticipate.

The first batch lasted much longer than I anticipated.

Probably because it was in the millions, my guess is at least 1.5 million.

Wow, I just ordered mine like an hour ago and it says delivered by the 16th. Hopefully that's true and I snuck in just in time.

Yah, Tim Cook seems to have had the supplies ready for the demand...even a few days isn't bad.

BTW, if anyone is interested in cool wood cases for your iPad, I found these and researched a ton. Good stuff.

you don't need an old iPad either. it's all about wants not needs. you do want one, why deprive yourself? Hahaha HAAaa

I always get very frustrated when people ask me why I "need" the latest Apple product. Why does anyone "need" anything beyond food and basic shelter? Sticks in my craw.

HA! So the four hours I spent trolling the Apple Store on Tuesday was not all in vain then :D

Fortunately, looks like the wait for second batch won't nearly be as bad as it was for the iPad 2. Now to see if there are any "issues" with the first batch of these iPads.

Just wondering, are they selling them in-store day 1 too?
