Miniaturization of technology, especially mobile phones has always been at the forefront of technological innovation:
Some phones pre-dating the iPhone that constantly tried to push the boundaries for "thin" and "small" at the time.
Motorolla StarTac, at the time of launch, worlds smallest commercial cell phone. With Approximately 60 Million editions sold. circa 1996

Or the ultra thin RAZR from motorolla, released in 2004, by 2006 sold and estimated 60 million, and Version 3 sold an estimated 130+ Million.

It's literally going to be *about* time.
Now that would have been the perfect tagline.
There will be nothing at this event but the watch. This is a big announcement even though its already been announced. They want the tech world laser focused on this watch. No way they are going to direct attention with any updated macs or iPads. there will be a special event for the iPad pro if it is coming, and the new airs maybe at wwdc.
Yep I think this will be 100% Watch. Showing off any other hardware takes away from the Watch and a photos app demo seems more suited for WWDC. Plus considering the rumors that software this year will be mostly bug fixes and performance improvements it seems like Apple will have more time to show off new Mac hardware at WWDC.
This is a great point.
I was hoping for a Beats Music update, but that would fit in quite well at WWDC, too.

Apple could do that but I'd prefer this to be 100% Watch focused. It's a brand-new product and it deserves the stage all to itself. In fact I would love it if Angela Ahrendts was up on stage talking about retail strategies for the Watch. And I'd love another design video going into more details on the actual design of the product. Video last year was really more of a high level overview.
So that's just your preference then? Because this event could easily feature the new MBA as well. I don't think it'd be a stretch at all.
My preference. I think turning this event into a general Apple event isn't good for the Watch.
You forget that not everyone is watching the event just for the Watch or even cares about it at all. I hope to see a rMBA but most of all an iPad Pro. Otherwise it will be a waste of my time.
Well, if you don't care about the watch, and still chose to watch the event, and there's no announcement of anything other than the watch -- well, it was your choice to waste your time. It's not like Apple says "Oh, we better make announcements about our non-watch products so as not to waste the time of those people who aren't interested in the watch." No, they announce their products when they are ready. With all the focus of Apple's top execs being on the watch, I doubt they have any time and energy left over to prepare presentations on other products.

We don't even know for sure that an iPad "pro" exists. We do know the watch is coming out in April. If you're not interested in the Watch this event probably isn't for you.
I'm equally as doubtful of the Watch being the only new product presented. iPads and MBAs falling behind the competition offering larger and higher-res displays is becoming a real problem for them, a problem which they've been working on fixing for some time, and as recent rumors have shown are close to being finished with.
There are plenty of people like me that don't see a smartwatch as being practical. Apple certainly can't completely disregard their other product lines for the Watch.
We never know for sure that something exists before they announce it. For instance, when I started watching the event on October 16 I was expecting a Retina iMac to be announced, even though for all I knew there may not have been one in existence, and I got one
Also, why do you need another event if the Watch was already announced and you already know when it will be released?![]()
Awesome! Finally all the Apple Watch price rumors will be put to rest.![]()
I agree that the MacBooks are due for an update (I'm looking to upgrade my MBA myself). But I think they deserve their own event, not get tacked onto the end of the watch event. As for iPads, I don't expect anything new until Fall.
----------
Oh, was the retina iMac announced at the Octover event? I don't even remember that. And that's why I think the Macs need their own event. They keep getting tacked onto other events like that, and people aren't going to remember them, unless the model released happens to be one they are interested in buying.
As for Apple watch, we don't actually know the release date, only just "in April." And as Rogifan said, there are many additional details we still don't know.
I remember everything that was announced at that event. The Retina iMac of course, as well as the iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, and 2014 Mac mini. Do I have a really good memory, or did I forget something?
They frequently combine announcements because it's easier, and also if they label it as simply an "Apple event" they don't have to attach any specific product, particularly one that hasn't been announced. That's not to say I wouldn't prefer a separate event for each product, as then I could focus on what I intend to buy or am curious about and skip the Watch (although I will admit I was slightly curious when it was announced last September).
As for the Watch, simply giving specs, and pricing doesn't seem like enough to warrant a whole other event. The introduction and showcase is already well behind us.
They are going to bring Angela Ahrents up there to discuss Apple Retail 4.0 which is going to take a while. This is going to be a major part of the keynote.
Beats will not be discussed dentil WWDC, and the iPad Pro isn't coming until the fall. The MacBook Air may get an update though, but don't expect more than that.
It will mostly be a Watch event.
Hopefully they announce new rMBP's, really would love to upgrade this year.
Excited to see new things regarding the Apple Watch as well...
I just want an updated Macbook Pro Retina 15! 32gb ram support!
Im using about 13gb of the 16 available when compiling code on the go![]()
i don't think they will make an event just for the apple watch
another product will be shown ipad pro or macbook air or both
Spring over Broadwell right into wireless charging Skylake processors? Oh Apple you tease....
"Spring Forward"
Oh Apple, you cheeky bunch of kids.
Hasn't it been a while since we've had a spring event? That's kind of fun. I wonder if there will be any other surprises. Sometimes Apple event names have double meanings. It would be pretty funny if they unveiled a whole pile of updated devices, literally springing forward. Even though that is extremely unlikely, I'm going to keep dreaming in my little dream land about iPad Pros with drawing stylus and other weird stuff.
Nice, looking forward to see this event. Just hope something else besides the watch but I doubt Apple will share the spotlight.
Doubt it.
It'll be later, and well worth it: Skylake redesigned rMBP 15" with nVidia Maxwell-class 970M please.
If this truly is an Apple watch event, it has peculiar timing. It's at least a full month before it's release. Either it's something else (iPad Pro, MBA) or they have some significant new features that would require such a time lag. Maybe something for developers??
Remember for iPad/iPhone they always have the event a week and a half before release. And for the iPhone/iPad initial launch sure they announced months in advance, but I don't believe they had another whole media event dedicated to announce it's launch/further details...
feeling it too
after my MBA crapped the bed this week though, I'm hoping to see if they announce the new 12"'s at this.
Or maybe a new iPad (the pro?)
either way, if it's JUST for the Watch, going ot pass up watching.
Either way
March is going to be exciting times for mobile. New revisions from at least 2 major flagship android phones. The Apple Watch, possibly new tablet or MacBook's (maybe a refresh to mac pros?), New Tablets from the competition.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again
We live in sci-fi. I read books growing up that explained the future just like we have today. and it's thrilling to live in such techologically interesting times"
Retina ******** MacBook Pro. I truly hate apple right now. Who cares about the retina air.
Hopefully we get some promising examples of what the Apple Watch can do, and also get some (even stealth?) updates to the Mac side of things. Is it still too early to hope for Broadwell portables?
Oh yeah, and my random guesses for prices:
$349 - $799 - $3999 for entry level prices at Sport/Stainless/Edition.
I couldn't care less about the watch if I tried....really hope we see something else at the event, but I don't think we will.
So, you are insinuating I am a hypocrite because I visit this site, but am not excited about the Apple Watch. You do realize Apple makes more than just watches, right?
I am much more interested in news related to macs and I hope there is more emphasis on that in the upcoming event.
Had a mouthful of water when I saw the headline... hope they announce a new Macbook then![]()
Besides the Apple Watch and the new R-MBA, seems everybody forgets the iMac 4K Retina 21-24", and the also expected to arrive soon Updated Mac Pro (DDR4 ATI D310/D510/D710, TB3).
While other products (as RMBP) could wait wor WWDC to update.
I bet on the Apple Watch, rMba and Updated nMacPro.
Probably going to be a new 15" MacBook Pro...considering I just bought one this past weekend...lol.
I'm excited for this event. Not for that stupid watch,
but because of all the other goodies that might also get announced.

Recent rumours are suggesting broadwell MacBook pros too.
