The press are going to be the ones reporting about it on their websites which the consumers are then going to read.

I know, sorry, I was being a bit snarky. What does it matter if the press sees something and reports on it, if it is irrelevant to the people who would be buying it?

This is obviously the right way to go - if a little bit to late. Everything will eventually be dominated by services. Talk to people arround you or look at Apples earnings rapport. This is the future wether you like it or not.

Well, until it isn't anymore. I've been around long enough to see how these industry fads work, and everyone get excited about... 'the future is XYZ' until it isn't anymore. Apple is getting into this just about the time I think people are starting get services/subscription-fatigue.

They 'cut the cord' to supposedly save money, and now are spending way more for their stack of connectivity and services. And, they are starting to figure that out.

I genuinly don't understand the push for paid news. ... Why would anyone want to pay for news? It's beyond me & certainly not the way forward for the media.

Maybe if we actually paid some real journalists, and were willing to pay for the work they do to deliver information to us, we'd not have to put up with so much fake news, sensationalized headlines, and ad-driven content. When the news is 'free' (aka. ad-funded) guess who controls what the message of the news is?

That said, yeah, I think the MSM is so completely messed up, they don't even know which way is up anymore. Real news outlets are starting to head for a value-for-value funding model.

That's why we have choices.

Not everyone is going to enjoy family-friendly shows, just as not everyone necessarily enjoys shows like 24.

I wonder if Apple is trying to cast as wide a net as they can with content that has a larger appeal, especially if Apple intends to make them freely available in the TV app (which means it needs to be safe for anyone with an iOS device or Mac, including children). Plus, these would be shows that they are able to screen in their own Apple Stores, unlike more edgy content like say, Game of Thrones, which would be subject to more restrictions.

Just remember that ideas have consequences, and ideas can be much more dangerous than graphic content. A G-rated show could contain ideas that would have a much more negative impact than R or M content with a proper worldview.

I say this as Apple can exclude all the edgy or even mature content they want, but that doesn't mean the shows are family-friendly.

Incredible. "The relatively new product I bought recently already doesn't work properly anymore, I can't wait to buy the next generation."
Planned obsolescence really works wonders.

It's just the reality tiny batteries in tiny devices... which is why I don't plan on spending a couple-hundred of my hard earned dollars on something so disposable. But, otherwise, I was thinking kind of the same thing.

It will be relevant to enough people.

My point was that you shouldn’t go in expecting to be entertained for that one hour (or however long the keynote will be). It’s a glorified press statement (especially now that we no longer have Steve Job’s legendary showmanship to carry the event), nor are you expected to have to sit through the entire hour in order to know what is going on.

People are going to watch it, and then complain that it’s dull and boring, and this will be my answer to them. The product is marketed at you, but the keynote isn’t.

Yeah, I'll prevent that by not watching it in the first place. I used to never miss them and watch carefully. Now, they are typically about 90% yawn-fest (or depression inducing).

My main issue isn't that they are dull and boring, though. If they were dull and boring about great products and services, I'd probably tune in. The problem is that they have so often been about pointless stuff... which one wonders why the press needs to know about, either.

Apple is so lost right now. Instead of producing great products, they are looking for any which way possible to milk their customers. How can such a great company fall down this stupid path.

Macrumors has not changed its name to "Applerumors".

Here, Mac users are understandably frustrated that Apple is shifting its focus to medias & Hollywood.

The smartphone growth ride is mostly over. Shareholders which invaded this site lately like to remind Mac users that Apple sells 200 millions iPhones yearly and "Tim is doing a great job".

This executive team was there when it was only Apple Computer. None of them have any experience managing such sudden wealth, and now, they're caught like Microsoft at its zenith.

What do we do? Put $14bn/yr in R & D... the pipeline. Meanwhile...

...what will happen first - consumers suddenly stop buying (slowly at first, like the cord cutting trend, which is increasing now at more than 1 million/Q), or - a new executive team takes over.

History shows Hollywood love to eat newcomers for breakfast.

Go back to your roots Apple, and move forward again. But, you're so wealthy now, the initial motivation that brought you here has vanished. So, what drives you today.

Meanwhile, thanks for the ride... so far.

I am quite sure it would be all about services, maybe a “there’s one more thing “ speaking about the new Mac Pro but that’s all (imo). Anyhow I’m willing to change my iPhone this autumn and I’ll wait to see what they will come up with. If it doesn’t convince me, I am going to change from Apple ecosystem. I am sick of the prices of the actual lineup of macs.

I believe that Apple will go on to become even bigger and more successful in the future.

Apple’s profits and growth show that for every 1 disgruntled user who is upset that the Mac is evidently being neglected, there are at least 10 other users who are happy with the direction that Apple is headed in.

You are right in that smartphone growth is plateauing, and Apple is clearly pivoting towards wearables. To me, it makes sense. Apple has won mobile (in terms of having aggregated the best customers) and will therefore have the advantage in any new market whose success is predicated on mobile.

The Mac does not represent the future here at Apple. You can all whine and complain all you want about the sorry state of affairs, but I do feel that the sooner you all recognise and acknowledge this, the better. Less painful for you, and better for the state of the forums overall.

No, Apple will never release a desktop Mac that can compete with your Hackintosh. You just have to accept that the 2009 Mac Pro was the last desktop Mac you bought.

Instead of reading nearly every MacRumors article and only posting negative comments about Apple, you should plan for your eventual migration to Windows or Linux, since there will be a time when macOS will not support your 2015 Hackintosh.

Isn't 4+ years of negative commenting enough ?

As long as Apple continues to sell subpar computers, the CRITICISM will be warranted.

99% of Apple top management together with Ive shall step down on 25th March. Second Netflix is not needed at all in Europe and Asia, Africa, Australia etc.

Apple has almost 250+ billion dollars in cash lying with them..This 'entertainment' service plan will make it zero. Apples so called liberalism(everything is offensive and tight control on what you can say) and drama wont fit well...

Bingo:apple:

I can't tell if you're serious or joking... but that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
This is the first time you've come across this poster then.. lol, I don't think I'm revealing any secret by disclosing that it's a fake account. Tim cook is the chap behind the name. No normal non Apple exec would ever speak like this, using words like insane and pipeline lol...

Tim Cook & Co have ONE & ONLY ONE priority right now, Generating (as much) Incremental Revenue (as possible), so they don't get Forced Out !

If AAPL's Stock had NOT rebounded in Jan, Cook & many of those who Report directly to him would have been Forced Out by the Board.

They got a Reprieve.

But they need to Deliver.

As such, I expect a whole slew of minor updates, across a whole slew of products.

And I'll bet the #1 Question they asked themselves wrt each product, "Is It Good Enough ?" (to entice people to upgrade).

IMO, AAPL is an extremely predictable company right now, & we'll ALL see that on March 25th.
What you are saying is with the stock rebound, they started on developing a slew of products? That doesn't track. In fact the entire post doesn't track. The "incremental revenues" comes from people who want (for their own reasons) to purchase products and services. Apple can't force that. TC and Co. would not have been forced out by dips in the price of AAPL. If that was the case announcing the earnings revision would have killed their tenure immediately.

We tried that service when it started and had a ton of problems. Random frozen streams even though our house generally gets over 150 mbps down. When we unbundled Comcast Internet from cable the internet portion shot up to like $100.00. And that is metered—go over 2 TB’s and you’re paying extra. Cable plus internet turned out to be a wash with cable plus DirecTV Now. Damn cable companies.

I had the same issues when it first started, but in the last 6 months I used it with zero problems. Give it another try. Looks like they fixed the lag.

Tim Cook isn't going anywhere. Nor is he one step away from being fired.

Sorry to disappoint all the haters, but I foresee Tim Cook heading Apple for a good many years to come. He's precisely the steady hand that Apple needs right now. The swashbuckling days of Steve Jobs are over.
