I wrote a post, and deleted, proposing the consumer-pro grid that SJ implemented

iPad: Consumer: iPad Mini, i. Pro: iPad Pro, IPad Pro+
iPhone C: iPhone XR mini, iPhone XR. P: iPhone XS, iPhone XS+
Mac: C: Mac mini, iMac. P: Mac Pro ( MIA)
Etc.

Simplify the product line and stop selling old models. There does not need to be a redesign every year. But there does need to be a refresh. And then cover the price strata with current models.

I agree, simplify the lineup. For laptops, just have 2 lines: the super-duper thin MacBook (Air) line, and a thicker MacBook Pro line that has a bigger battery & a decent dedicated GPU.

Apple is so lost right now. Instead of producing great products, they are looking for any which way possible to milk their customers. How can such a great company fall down this stupid path.

Can't take those comments about high price anymore. Apple is expensive. We get it. In fact Apple is more expensive then its competitors since 1976 and they'll be more expensive forever. So please buy a sub-$1000 PC laptop and go elsewhere to complaint about it.

Lets see... To those already dreaming of new iPhone SE2, new Mac Pros, New MacBooks, New redesigned iPad... No. I'm afraid this year's March Apple event will be all about it's new subscription based Movie and Series service. Maybe they will upgrade, unnoticeably, the regular iPad with an A11 processor and that's all. And maybe they will add to the regular Airpods a wireless charging case option -making it more expensive-. You will barely notice any hardware changes in Apples lineup.

That's what I'm expecting from this event, sadly. And I say sadly because I desperately want the new AirPods 2 with hey Siri commands, waterproof, motion tracking and improved sound. And I also want a 10.2" regular iPad with the same form factor and lightweight as the iPad Pro. And a smaller iPhone XS, or the so called SE2. And a new MacMini, a new Mac Pro, an the whole Mac lineup with the new 10nm Intel Processors, along with a much better and capable T3 chipset.

But I'm afraid this Keynote is about services, Movie services (the invitation makes it pretty clear), News services, and maybe a small bump in some specifications. I'm setting my hype at a súper low level, hopefully Apple will surprise me.

I gotta be honest, the last few years of Apple Events have been AMAZING for the complete let downs and sheer boredom they were. The live comment threads are hilarious. So I look forward to more of the same.

Lol, the new Pro? Would you ever invest for your business in über expensive hardware while not knowing its future proof and after a few months finding out there are faster solutions available for a fraction of the price Apple is offering. I can already predict with 99,9 % guarantee that the new Mac Pro won’t sell. Even if it’s going to be an awesome machine. That’s because Apple already alienated their core customers.

Indeed. I would want so see at least 2 updates to this, and the frequency of them (i.e. annual-ish) and the overall strategy to Mac hardware before I'd go any where near it. Apple must also stop this obsession with thin and start putting ports back into their machines, and stop soldering everything to the motherboard.

Yep. Just like they don’t allow “offensive” stuff in the music store, the tv app, iTunes video store, podcasts, etc.

Oh, wait. ...

Hahaha nobody has ever made a comment about apple and emojis before. You are so brilliant!
No one ever mocks another poster in defense of Apple either. You are so unique!

He is over the top, jump the shark fanboy. I stopped listening to Macbreak weekly because he was so predictable in his Apple love fest.
There is a level of gushing fanboy extremism that causes them to be of no informative value. Rene Ritchie embodies that level.

As for what will be announced, as most have said, Apple's new streaming subscription service. But I also expect a dongle-ized version of the Apple TV that will have a $99 pricetag as an on-ramp to that new service.

Can't wait to see them try to hype up a Netflix clone with a bunch of bland, politically correct, non offensive content and a news subscription hardly anyone is going to give a **** about because most people are not going to pay for the garbage that is journalism and news today.

I do not like this new "chasing after services" Apple. I want the Apple that regularly released amazing solid products that were worth the extra cost and acted amazingly together. As they chase more money through more and more subscription services it's getting absurd because they are trying to offer EVERYTHING and lock users in.
Hulu and Spotify today pretty much gave the middle finger to Apple. For $9.99 I get no ads spotify and Hulu(which has ads but if its free I can't complain.

Out of all the markets Apple has gone for, usually I can see why they might try, but this just isn't anything anyone wanted. Apple is amazing at making things we view content from but anytime they have tried their hand in producing content has failed and no one is asking for it. Hulu pretty much today actually has already blown anything Apple will do with a tv service. As of today if you have a Spotify premium account you get a hulu account as well. Basically both Spotify and Hulu said see if you can have this much content for 9.99 a month. Im presuming Apple tv service wont have near as much content as hulu and Apple Music vs Spotify doesn't even compare either

Let's see the new Amazing products, the best ever... never mind...

The new overpriced with few internal upgrades...
I wish Apple proves me wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

Apple streaming ? can care less...

Why would you possibly have Netflix, Amazon Prime AND cable?

That's like grocery shopping twice a day, throwing out 90% of the food uneaten and the complaining about how groceries are too expensive.

We cut the cable and have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Direct TV Now. We don't miss cable per se, but I would miss news and sports without streaming TV via Direct TV Now. I assume there are other similar services available, but I haven't really researched it yet. I went with Direct TV Now because ATT gave me free Apple TVs during a promotion if I signed up for 3 months when I cut the cable......so, it was a no brainer at the time. The price is going up, so I'll have to shop them.

I'm so jealous, your day seems to have significantly more hours than mine.

I get a month of Netflix every now and then, maybe three months a year.

Some people manage to have a life, social contacts, a hobby, a job, a pet, and still somehow squeeze in a couple hundred hours of television a year.

Except now it’s not even about expensive computers. Apple hardly seems to Ben putting much time into computers anymore. They seem to be shifting their main focus to services and wanting even more money from customers through those services. Since apple *seems* to be putting a decent effort into making relatively good services and since I don’t have to buy them I’m fine with it but I see why people look at apple today and see a company more focused on increasing profits than the company 10-20 years ago.

This is what happens when markets are saturated. Apple HAS to expand into new businesses and the technology isn’t ready for major new hardware categories like AR glasses or something we haven’t even thought of yet.

I agree people are complaining pointlessly a lot of the time but I also hear what they are saying and understand the frustrations, particularly from the pro Mac user base that Apple absolutely has neglected over the last decade.

Apple is very very very far away from putting health features in the Airpods. Those things can barely hold enough battery, not to talk about fairly advanced sensors. The new Airpods will have at most three features, that can only be exaggerated as major updates in the Apple Ecosphere...
1. Wireless Charging of the case - probably with a price bump like the Apple Pencil 2
2. Hey Siri on Airpods. I seriously don't understand how this is still missing. My BT headphone for $40 coupled with a three year old Android can do Hi Google for almost 2 years now. WHAT IS APPLE STRUGGLING WITH?!
3. Added color(s)

There is literally nothing to demo here.

You missed a likely fourth- increased water resistance. And a fifth- latest Bluetooth and perhaps W-2. And to suggest that Apple is many years away from putting health features in AirPods is undoubtedly wrong, if Apple intends to put in health features at all. Maybe not this year, but health and peripherals are both incredibly important to Apple, and they are putting in enormous resources.

If there is a health feature, they will demo. Whether the above "big four" is enough to put in a demo depends on the context of the particular event. Again, peripherals are now critical to Apple's future and the AirPods a huge hit, so just like the "s" version of the iPhone, may merit a few minutes on stage to stoke demand even further. Black AirPods alone will be a huge hit to get people rushing out to buy.

this man is incredible, he is killing apple

man I really hope that they announce a new iMac and the most waited Mac Pro
I think this is the beginning of the end for apple
they really have to get rid of Tim

Tim Cook is killing Apple... agree 200%
Zero innovation, upgrade cycles over 4-5 years what is ridiculous in computer time.
Cook is just recycling old products with internal upgrades. So pathetic.
Lot of products have been failures like the Mac Pro and Macbook Pros 2016+.

And even if they release new iMac and Mac Pros, they will be so overpriced very few users will be able to buy it.
Look at the Mac Mini, Macbook Pro price increases and the iMac Pro ridiculous pricing.
