Anyone know how long it takes for Apple to post the keynote to their Keynote podcast stream? I have a slower connection at home and want to download the full HD quality video.

Would be nice if they offered some sort of buffered stream where you could start it at anytime and watch it from the start even while it is still streaming.

Since they started doing live streaming it's been about 30 minutes for the whole video to post.

Then again, I'd guess that usually the video they post is just a recording of the master live stream, that is encoded on the fly during the keynote, ready to upload as soon as the event finishes.

With the issues they've had today, I'd not be surprised if they're going to have to re-edit the event from raw footage (at least the opening, till they got it all working again). Fingers are crossed that's not the case, but if it is, we may be in for a bit of a wait.

I just went looking on the main page. Nothing there yet.

The main page still redirects to the stream page. But there is either just the countdown showing 0:00:00 or a black screen. Also, all the twitter messages below have vanished. Accessing the website with a different TLD gives "Access denied" or the old page with no indication of anything new.

Complete website reset I presume.

... still going. I just saw the edge.
Ahh, okay then.

Here's hoping that the video is up quickly and that it doesn't suffer from any of the issues the stream had.

There is nothing yet though Except for Twitter messages.

The full HD stream does take a long time, but the 480p streams are usually out quite fast after the event...

Yeah, the streams are available fast. He was talking about the HD podcast download, which does take a lot longer.

Gah... I tried to get to that link and somehow ended up at the other one with the live feed below it. Total spoiler right at the top.

EDIT: Never mind. Your link has it too. Just didn't load anything below the replay announcement when I clicked it.

EDIT 2: Here is the link I removed from the quote above. Beware, there is a constantly updating feed at the bottom of the page which most likely will show spoilers. http://www.apple.com/live/2014-sept-event/

Just reload the page, I got the same error too and it disappeared after I reloaded it.

This whole steam has been very disappointing today. Hopefully the video will be available sooner rather than later.

Considering a lot of people must have abandoned the live stream, do you think the replay might also have overloading issues?

Perhaps it is intentional that clicking "Experience the Keynote" from Apple's homepage right now crashes Safari. That actually was the keynote I experienced earlier, too. I hope Tim Cook soon learns that you have to be vicious about quality.

I gave up on the live stream about half an hour in, due to regular freezes and the Chinese translator speaking over the whole damn thing. Extremely poor live stream, very disappointing for such a significant event from Apple.

I sincerely hope that the recording doesn't have that nonsense in it!

So I'm visits family in Saskatoon. I really wanted to watch the stream live, but my parents don't have broadband. So I tried the library, throttled to .5 megabit. I tried McDonalds ... Throttled to .5 megabit. I went to the university, they have three wifi networks, the public network ... Throttled to .5 megabit.

By now it was already 20 minutes into the event. I tried a Starbucks ... Couldn't end event connect to test the speed. :(

So I gave up and am spoiler free waiting for the replay.

lol This'll be one of the three-hour wait uploads if the stream issues you all discussed were as bad as they sound.

Edit: Sweet! Hopefully the 1080p stream will be ready and functioning when I'm done with my shower. Now, to watch on my iPad or my rMBP? lol

Reloaded the page and it auto played the video from a major point in the announcement. Didn't see a way to start it from the beginning again. Almost as if they are streaming it over.
