For how many Apple devices over the years that were directly marketed and sold to creative professionals, this is super offensive to the legions of artists who kept Apple afloat for decades

All this processing power… all this AI… all the technology… more money than god… and this is what Apple showcases?

Just another Hallmark Birthday Card?

Jesus wept.

Are you concerned the silicon in your iPhone will get tired of all the work?

Here's what I don't get. No one was forcing Apple to make a press release to show off their GenAI pics.

But they thought this was good enough to warrant posting for everyone to see.

We better be able to delete the model from our phones, no one should be forced to give up their storage for this kind of drivel.

Oh man, you lot going on and on about how horrible it looks. Where is your imagination? Be glad you haven't lived in the era of ASCII art when on a dial-up modem :) It's like being on some photo forums, all some people can comment about is that a picture is nice and sharp. Something no one ever said about the most iconic photos taken ever.

Based the image editing, it will download the first time you use it so you are in luck.

Emojis are for old people is what I learned as a 36 year old from the next generation
Why are there so many emoji about Japan?

In 2015, US President Barack Obama visited Japan and thanked the nation for giving the world such cultural gifts as karate, karaoke, anime and – yes – emoji.

Meaning something akin to “picture” and “character” in Japanese, emoji originated in the 1990s as mobile phone culture exploded in Japan. Now there are more than 2,500 of them, and World Emoji Day is tomorrow. They even spawned last year’s (widely panned) film.

Since emoji were invented in Japan and entered mainstream use there, it makes sense that there are dozens of Japan-specific ones. Some are more globally recognised as tourism-friendly icons – Mt Fuji, sushi, sake – but there are plenty that depict smaller aspects of Japanese life and culture, which may not be instantly recognisable to non-Japanese.

Ultimately some low-quality cartoon drawings will hurt nobody. I agree it doesn't look too good and I guess generating new Memoji would be a better use case.

That’s what they said about emoji's. People hating on this need to get a life. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. But don’t hate on it. Unless of course it’s why you are here. Feel free to thumbs down so we know who you are,
There's some truth to your message but when Apple dedicate UI space to it and affect the existing UX of an app to make room for these features, it does impact those that don't use it.

Stickers are a great example of that. I've never used one, never will but they keep popping up in my emoji interface and causing me to have to scroll further than I would if it wasn't there at all.

I have not, but have done a Google search.

I use Draw Things on my Mac. I use Automatic1111 on my Windows/Linux desktop. I was simply asking if people were generating better images on their iPhones with purely on-device (iPhone) models.
No. Unless your computer is really old and decrepit, it hopefully has more memory and better cooling. The phone is probably using an 8bit model to fit in memory. The quality hit isn't too bad, but it's there.

I've never used an AI image generator and I have no desire to in the future. How many people actually want to make these kinds of things except for memes?

How often will a normal person use this? Maybe a handful of times to see what it does and then never touch it again?

For the amount of effort a lot of this AI stuff is taking it seems like quite a waste of resources especially since we are very light on new device features and very light on new features in Apple's development frameworks.
