Ah the good old days, when enabling a guest account on Snow Leopard would erase your user data.

No doubt, this latest OS update has been an absolute trainwreck. Apple really dropped the ball. But to say such a rose-tinted statement as yours, especially with your recent join date on MR, just smacks as a little... well, like you read a Jobs biography last week and thought everything was gravy whilst he was CEO. That wasn’t the case.

I’ve been using Apple computers for 20 years... what does my join date have to do with anything?

If you feel the need to apologize for the abundance of misssteps that Apple have made in recent years maybe it is you who has the gravy pot.

Things were not perfect under Jobs, but it is much worse now.

Without the iPhone the current Apple is nothing.

I do prefer MacOS and iOS, but how much is because of quality and how much is because I’ve been using it for so long is now debatable.

I wonder when the tipping point for Tim will be that Apple has serious and deep problems in its software function. Because clearly the lack of innovation hasn’t caught his attention. Maybe the shoddy quality will.

Time will tell...

And now we observe the typical reminder that the poster has been an Apple user for donkey’s years, followed by a vitriolic “you’re an apologist” reaction which wasn’t even vaguely implied from the reply.

This script is far too familiar around here. It’s almost comical to read.

This is getting comical. Apple has to fix the fix that fixed a very bad security bug. I wonder what this fix will break...
Fixing a root access issue was urgent and required an immediate fix. The I’m glad they didn’t take it through beta tests.

Similar major flaws is Android have gone on for months with the solution being google dropping support for older devices affected to not have to deal with it. Of course there was no one crying for justice.

The Mac file sharing has always been a mess. Not that it's any better in Windows, but still. There are so many bugs that never got fixed.

You are so full of knowledge, it is amazing!

.... really .... amazing

some replies are like a crying clown, they should be funny.... but they are only sad.

Cheerio, have a good day.

True, bugs will always be present regardless of which platform people choose.

But it is undeniable that Apple products no longer “just work”

And asking people to tinker in the terminal app.... really Apple, really?!

It's just like people have never used computers before. Oh my Gawd, we have to tinker in terminal for a temporary fix for a problem.....whatever shall I do. The sky is falling. Oh my fur and whiskers. Just a whole lot of sky is falling drama. There was a very serious security issue - it was fixed in a day. My Apple products still Just Work and there are no more or less issues than anyone else's gadgets.

The average consumer shouldn’t have to mess around in the terminal... that’s just bad customer experience.

It should’ve been released as a security update.

That way everybody would get it. I’d like to believe that they have someone who could write the script that would automate the fix.

Or when updating to 10.2.8 disabled your Ethernet.

If he at least would install Forstall as a grim/insane looking nanny for Federighi that would be totally sufficient for now.
Scott was forced out by Cook et al when he refused to sign the Maps horror story confession. Cook wants collective blame whereas Scott told him where to go but then Cook told Scott where to go. Sad. I actually like Craig F. as he is brilliant on stage and a very charismatic individual in person.

Things like this really makes me wonder why I'm still using this operating system, and why Apple is even keeping it alive in this condition.
Seems like there are no operating systems or software to really use then.
