I guess they had to dampen the audience groan after the monitor stand price announcement.

Only Apple would consider charging for a “Pro” monitor stand at that price. I wonder if any cables are including to power or pass data to this thing. Looks greats however no SpaceGrey.

If someone wanted the XDR with Nano coating and stand this thing costs $6999

Just bring that Nano anti-reflective coating to the rest of your displays and most will be happy.

I haven’t been this excited for a software update in years. There are so many features and improvements I’ve been wanting along with really cool useful things I didn’t know I wanted. The fact that they added so many things while still improving performance is insane too. Can’t wait.

It was a long time coming, even before iOS 12, which then changed focus to optimization.

So do we call this iPadOS 1.0 or 13

10:11 PM PST here, and still not in the Apple Events app on Apple TV, though I keep reopening it.

Yes, I got an email notification from Apple last night at 8:30 PDT. So I immediately turned on my Apple TV, went to the events app, and no keynote. Restarted my ATV and still nothing.

I ended up having to AirPlay the event from my iPad via the website. All I could think was how dumb I had to do that. My iPad was tied up while I streamed the video. I couldn’t imagine why the video was available via the website, but not the TV app. And conversely I began wondering again why there wasn’t an email app and web browser on the Apple TV, so I could access it directly through it natively instead of using my iPad.

Very odd.

Boo, groan, gasp … I mean, it is semantics. The reaction was not a great big "hooray".

And I corrected myself that it was John Ternus.

So after all the news and announcements during the Keynote you decided to laser focus on something you consider negative. Why?

Downie will offer you 3 versions of the event for download, no problems. (I grabbed the 2 higher-quality ones)

Damn that’s an ugly Mac and Display update... I was ok with the old cheese grater, but this one looks terrible. The 1k Display stand is one of the ugliest things apple ever designed, imo.

I totally agree with that. its so ugly.
Especially after the round bin one.
To go then back to the old dull box model.
its a cheep shot !
Jonathan Ive is letting us down.

It took them long enough, they usually post like 1-2 hours after.
They were trying to decide if they were going to charge users to watch it.

For all of my time on this forum most of the people here were begging Apple to bring the functionally formed cheese grater back.

Apple apparently had some listen to that and they brought it back in a sexy macho monster truck way. And now you’re asking for something that looks like the waste paper bin under my desk that also has thermal issues?

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, but color me surprised.

Where is Catalina rated as faster? They have new hardware out so the bad coding can continue.

And you think removing a few seconds clip (assuming that's what it is) takes hours to edit on the new mitey Mac Pro? I can do it in just 10 seconds on my iPad.
The edit would need to look authentic. They couldn’t entirely remove it as the media are reporting on “booing” (i heard grunts but no booing tbh) the edit would have been to remove as much as possible without looking (to those in attendance & live viewers) like it didn’t happen at all as the leaks and live already show that it did.

It is semantics, the study of meaning in language. "Gasp" probably most accurately captures the reaction. "Boo" would probably inaccurately indicate disapproval.

I definitely heard a big booing from the audience when I was watching it live. It was like quite louder even so that some journalist wrote on Twitter about that when they were covering the event live. So when I watched the Keynote they released almost a day later it was definitely edited out.

Ok. So I’m wondering where the additional groaning went when they announced the $1000 matte screen option.

There was silence, but I expected groaning as well.

Seriously. You want matte and a stand? That’s 2k in “upgrades”

Apparently it does come with a basic stand.
People keep saying that, but it doesn't mention it anywhere on the Apple website.
In fact, it says: In the box- Pro Display XDR, Power cord (2 m), Apple Thunderbolt 3 Pro Cable (2 m, Polishing cloth

I could understand if someone at Apple **** their pants at the audience reaction and then started telling people that it would include some type of stand, and now they'll quietly make a non-adjustible stand to include.

Can we get Arn or Dan to ask someone at Apple for a statement? I assume you guys are there

Whatever, dude. There was a palpable, not quiet, negative reaction.

You insist on splitting hairs … go for it if that's your jam. All I did is point out that it happened.

This keynote will go over in history for when Apple sold a monitor without a stand to then charge people $1000 for it or pay a $200 fee for not buying it (VESA). This is not okay.
Calm down bro. Most studio guys have their own mounting systems. I personally would definitely get the mount. It looks excellent.

There were several points in this keynote that felt edited weirdly to me. Did they have technical issues during the keynote? Or more unexpected reactions that didn't make it through to the on-demand video? Something was just 'off' with it.
