$1K for a stand is definitely no longer "for the rest of us". I mean I've defended Apple a lot on pricing through the years but this is just absurd, is it made out of platinum?

Yes, I got an email notification from Apple last night at 8:30 PDT. So I immediately turned on my Apple TV, went to the events app, and no keynote. Restarted my ATV and still nothing.

I ended up having to AirPlay the event from my iPad via the website. All I could think was how dumb I had to do that. My iPad was tied up while I streamed the video. I couldn’t imagine why the video was available via the website, but not the TV app. And conversely I began wondering again why there wasn’t an email app and web browser on the Apple TV, so I could access it directly through it natively instead of using my iPad.

Very odd.
Seems strange indeed. I watched it live via the Events App on my TV (3rd gen).
Based in ireland, by the way - not that it should matter.

Not according to Apple (https://www.apple.com/pro-display-xdr/specs/). No mention of a basic or included stand anywhere.
It’s mentioned in the last line of the second last paragraph of this article: https://iphone.appleinsider.com/articles/19/06/03/first-look-mac-pro-and-apple-pro-display-xdr

People keep saying that, but it doesn't mention it anywhere on the Apple website.
In fact, it says: In the box- Pro Display XDR, Power cord (2 m), Apple Thunderbolt 3 Pro Cable (2 m, Polishing cloth

I could understand if someone at Apple **** their pants at the audience reaction and then started telling people that it would include some type of stand, and now they'll quietly make a non-adjustible stand to include.

Can we get Arn or Dan to ask someone at Apple for a statement? I assume you guys are there
This is where I got the information. The very last line of the second lay paragraph: https://iphone.appleinsider.com/articles/19/06/03/first-look-mac-pro-and-apple-pro-display-xdr

I have to say, one of the better Keynotes since Cook took over, was a good show. … And it's good that Cook realised he should only do the intro and good-bye of the presentation, giving much better presenters like Craig and a lot of younger talent stage time.

Agreed. Mostly… I have to say, the overuse of hyperbole (I wish I got a dollar every time someone on stage said 'amazing') was just as cringeworthy as always, and some of the 'younger talent' could do with some acting or improv classes, so their carefully scripted jokes don't sound so rehearsed. (You'd have to blame the script writers though for some of those 'jokes', which dropped without so much as a titter from the audience.)

Craig Federighi, on the other hand, just keeps getting better. He really is the best presenter Apple has by a very long margin, so it's good and proper to see him getting so much stage time.

Also, black sneakers with white soles… the official shoe of Apple keynote presenters? Has that been a thing for previous WWDCs?

Yeah, very bad timing with the jokes with some of the presenters. And their "amazing" or similar doesn't sound genuine. On the other hand, it's good to see/hear the actual people who worked on these projects and not professional actors/presenters.

What is that brand of sneaker shoe that many of the presenters wore? Maybe it's the hip sneaker shoe to wear in Silicon Valley??

Very true! Perhaps it's a bit much to expect them to be good at their jobs and natural presenters/comedians.
