No narrow depth of field, still no film look. Sorry APPLE. Nice try. Maybe next year when you want to really use the Lidar you already have there but you are holding back artificially.

Nobody is asking you to.

Here’s a creator who filmed the review of his iPhone 12 pro on his iPhone 12, then edited it on his Mac (using airdrop). He also uses his iPad to edit his video thumbnails.

Most excellent and impressive! And tight. Shows what you can do with a phone when driven to create.

Great vid! Looks really good on 2017 MBP.

I have plenty of dedicated cameras. For the last five years I choose to shoot exclusively with my phone. I suspect others may feel similarly.

If you are a pro photographer I am really interested to know, if you say this tiny digital camera attached to a phone is just as good as the full fledged Nikon ones, why would any one buy those dedicated ones?

awesome photo by the way, and I am someone who does not appreciate photography.

The best camera is the one that's with you is pretty much at the heart of what Apple is claiming here. Followed closely by our cameras are pretty BA.

I like gear as much as the next. But the best gear in the world can't tell a story on it's own. I often think of what it would have been like growing up with access to these types of tools as a creative little kid. And while the majority of iPhone users are staying up-to-date on Instagram, some are busy telling the next great story. I mean, think of the stories these devices have helped tell this past year. Without them, who knows what horrors would have continued unchecked. No mater how you slice it, the potential these devices offer is nothing short of staggering.

Nope. Not a pro photographer. If forced to characterize, I'd say fine art.

And that's something I have NEVER SAID. What I do say, quite regularly, there's more to photography than acquiring gear. It's about creating. Using your life experiences, imagination, technical skills, being able to read light, having the ability of including/hiding information, recognizing gesture, mystery, seeing potential narratives, all (and more) going into creating a photograph that hopefully stirs a viewers imagination, releasing some kind (any kind will do) narrative, and evoking a response.

Notice that in the above nothing is said about equipment, brands, etc. Creativity comes from within.

And, as you allude to up above, thank god almost everyone has a phone in their pocket. And when an injustice is spotted, it will quickly come to light for all to see, with the perpetrator exposed and hopefully brought to justice.

It's so refreshing to see someone here who gets what photography is really about!

My iPhone is always with me. If I see an urban scene that evokes something special in my mind I'll make a candid photo. If I come across a stranger who I believe is interesting in some way, I'll have a conversation and make a portrait.

Shame that they don’t actually play in Dolby Vision when using AirPlay to my 2020 LG CX OLED. Don’t see how I’m meant to watch themt

haha.. well, i guess there is a trade off... But Apple's all about selling a great product, so their gonna put that first..

Not to get cynical immediately, but two questions
1. Was this ad shot completely on an iphone 12? (be cool if it was but doubtful)
2. If you've got a buget for mics, light rigs, miniatures, horses, do yourself a favor and pick up a used EOS or A7iii, even a gopro for under $1k.

I mean, I get the ad, gonna get some peeps into filmmaking but still...
Most completely shot on iPhone and then edited afterwards as usual.
It’s amazing what’s possible with such a small camera!

I don't know why they are advertising this in 2020. People gathering is hardly allowed anywhere.

1. The portrait lens should be facing forwards. Everyone is affected by Covid and using their phones to communicate.

2. Lots of videos are made with the front-facing camera nowadays, alone. There should also be a wide-angle facing forwards.

3. Everyone is wearing masks outside, there should be a fingerprint sensor for id.

It would be really great if Apple updated their macOS app to actually support HDR. They saw fit to only update the iOS app. Any HDR video imported in the macOS iMovie is washed out and unusable.

I wish they would sell an iPod Touch with the same cameras as the iPhone. You wanna mount your iPhone to the hood of your car for some cinematic shots? Good luck making calls or texting your filming crew with your phone away.

Probably capture & edit some amazing footage of people fighting for survival in the post-apocalyptic world.
Hah, this sounds like a comment I would make. Been trying to think positive lately, but you're probably right.

I see... The name, fits.
That a great shot above. Is there a place I can see more of your work?
Keep snapping!
