Be reminded that using services such as the Appstore or even Facebook will still expose you to data tracking and profiling of habits it just prevents companies from following you around the internet with your unique ID which is what ATT is for.Apple the only "first party" data accumulator for iPhones tracks everything you do via Apple & App Store apps. They are bundling users into groups of 5,000 minimum, and selling this data to advertisers. You cannot opt out of Apples collection and use of your data because of the way Apple defined "privacy" as companies that not "first party" data users. So Apple replaces FBook re: segmentation advertisers want, and we all praise Apple. Gotta hand it to them, they are good.
If they are actually useful, I already pay for the ones I can. Procreate, adgaurd, flightradar, offine usgs maps like backcountry navigator are all ones I would pay decent money for. Subscriptions are a very hard sell to me. The only ones I have, I’m not paying necessarily for the app but the service, MotoGP, MLB.TV, Disney+. I don’t game much any more but I would pay good money if Sega, Sony and Nintendo released their old titles to modern mobile operating systems. Looking through I actually don’t even have free apps that I’m not paying them in some other way. Costo and Walmart for example. How many apps would you be willing to pay for and how much would you be willing to spend per month on subscriptions?
Excluding the apps I use for work I would probably continue paying for Dashlane and PressReader and that’s all. I would keep any remaining free apps and delete all of the rest.
Presumably all the free Google apps would disappear. I would probably end up with the free Apple apps and not much else.
I know some Apple users are celebrating today and I understand why but this will be a significant change for many people.
Cross app tracking is nothing to do with cookies but a device identifier. They're selling your anonymous data for ads. That's why cookies are going away.
Because until iOS 14.5, the iPhone did allow all the tracking the ad is showingYeah it's great, but why did it take so long. Apple's been touting the privacy features of iOS forever.
Why is Thanos allowed to do this? We need to collectively oppose this overt egregious oppression we witness at the hands of the evil Thanos.Thanos destroying all small businesses with a single touch
You can make a lawsuit about anything. For example, Facebook is already claiming that this feature of letting users ask not to track is anti competitive. They have been crying foul since this feature was announced. Now with this ad, not only Apple advertises this feature, but it also encourages users to ask not to track, which will directly affect Facebook. Since Facebook considers itself a competitor of Apple, this could easily be an anti trust lawsuit. How so?
Not coincidental at all. Apple is listening, just as Google or Facebook are.I can see why some people are dubious about Apple’s claims in regards to Privacy…
So I had a phone call with my Mum the other week (using the Phone app) and we were talking about a song she used to play loads back in the early ‘90s.
The next day, on Apple Music, said song appears on the ‘For You’ page.
Now, I know it’s probably purely coincidental however I can see why people think “Hmmm…” and query claims!
Yes, but only because it hurts small businesses. 😁Uhhh Facebook is gonna hate that 😁
Apple is in the game to make money, they are a corporation and that's their purpose. Shareholders would be quite upset if Apple would spend money on stuff that does not ultimately help the bottom line.Albeit, I wonder why Apple is making an effort to spread this awareness since they don't make money over it. My only conclusion is that its an indirect hit to Google's Android OS and services, hence Apple does not really care about your privacy but they care about your privacy to divert you away from their competitor.
