Maybe they found the same books that you and I used to learn to read?

You didn't learn to read from a book, you were taught to read by someone who already knows how to read and could point out the words to you.

A blind person is never going to be able to teach you to read.

A week I ago I read that Apple execs were saying that 'See' is going to be the next Game of Thrones. Looking at the first reviews, this doesn't seem to be the case. I, like many, will still give it chance this Friday because the trailers and TV spots have looked pretty interesting.

The initial reviews for GoT weren't all that stellar either. It does look interesting and I'll most certainly give it a chance. I'll suspend my disbelief and see if it entertains me and something tells me that it will. This is really about the only show on Apple TV I'm interested in so far. The others seem pretty bland.

This looks amazing and is the first good piece of marketing for this particular series, in my opinion.

I wonder if the negative press about Apple TV is a tactical move by the tv and movie industry. When Apple entered the music market the dominated it so completely they became the gatekeepers to the market. I wonder if the industry is protecting itself from this happening with Apple TV+

(could also be the shows aren’t great... but we‘ll see)

They built a series around a one-trick plot.

It would have been more interesting if they had made the fact that everyone is blind incidental to the plot, and not the main plot idea.

How is that "one trick plot" different to most any other plot? Like, "everyone is normal but this one guy or team has some powers". Or "everyone is normal but this guy is a detective". Or, "these people get lost in an island". Or "this guy is dying so he starts making drugs".

Out of ALL the Apple+ TV Shows and other offerings THIS is THE listing I have major interest in. I had the ultimate life changing pleasure of going to a great elementary school where a child my age (then 12) whom was born blind begged and pleaded to goto a 'normal' school to interact with kids his age. Little did we know ... it was US begin and pleading teachers, parents and his parents the last month of that semester for him to STAY!

hearing teachers walking down the hall over 100 ft away and knowing (not guessing) WHOM it was - helped me know who was Mr Hughes (who often played pocket hockey with keys/change) vs Mr Handcock lmao
running 100m under 12 seconds and seeing this funny running dude keeping up with me with just a finger along the lockers to know straight and how far down the hall he was. only then to sharp turn into the wide staircase and jump 14 steps BLIND in a single bound! Damn jaw dropped for us 60 kids all!
standing ovation became a standing union-handclasp.
concentration of breathing, listening to timber of voice, so much opened my eyes. Didn't realize how 'blind' we really were.

I would just like to point out to the Apple TV+ naysayers that one of Netflix's first big budget series was Marco Polo, which flopped spectacularly. Netflix managed to persevere. I have faith Apple will survive See.

Color matching is the least of the problems. If everybody is blind, clothing has no function other than protection from elements. Of course Apple isn't going to have a show about nudists, but that's basically where the culture would be after a couple of generations.

Of course, the real problem is survival is impossible if everybody is blind.

Question.... does someone tell you what color of clothes you have selected?

Assuming the entire population is without sight, it would stand to reason that no one would have a clue as to what anything looks like because it was never described to them. Unless, of course, books have detailed descriptions. Even then, how would they know how to dye thread to make colorful clothing. Lots of questions....
But these aren't prehistoric times when people didn't know any of that stuff. These people are survivors of an apocalyptic event so it stands to reason that there were survivors who knew how to make clothing and weapons and passed their knowledge down to younger generations. Plus from the trailers I've seen most everyone is dressed almost the same: Black, brown, some beige. All muted colors. The color pallet, in general, is muted and very subtle.

And as far as earrings and such again this is a post apocalyptic world in which people knew about those things. Also just because someone wears earrings doesn’t mean that it’s for someone else’s benefit.

And seriously this is fantasy/sci-fi so you have to suspend disbelief just like any other sci-fi or fantasy show or movie. Otherwise why would you even watch something like this if you can’t do that.

I believe this to be true as well.

Because Netflix had literally hundreds of other shows to stream. I was subscribed to Netflix when they first launched a preview of their streaming service. The very first show I streamed was Jeremiah, which was a brilliant post-apocalyptic show.

Some of those 'blind men' have perfectly trimmed beards.
They are blind, yet they managed to combine the color of their clothing.

Why some women wear earrings if nobody can see them?
You know that blind people are not a science fiction construct right? You know they are actual living breathing people in our society walking around with trimmed beards, matching clothing, and earrings right?

And this is the only one I thought I would watch. One things for sure, the actors, producers and staff on these productions are laughing all the way to the bank with Apple’s money.

I see a few things happening here:

- Apple keeps at it like they have with Apple Music.
- Give up
- Buy Netflix, Showtime and FX to get access to well produced content.
The first Netflix and Amazon original content shows were terrible. There is zero reason for Apple to panic. No one remembers to god awful Netflix original content and no one will remember these Apple shows if they don't last.
Amazon spent a butt load of money on that scifi fairy show and its pretty bad. They spent almost no money on Fleabag and its and emmy winning hit. People were asking “were is Fleabag I dont see it on Netflix”. Point is just like Amazon and Netflix, Apple can just keep going until they get a hit.

I do know that, and totally agree with you.
But I'm referring to the society depicted in this series, in which everyone is blind and living like barbarians.
So if everyone is blind, how could anyone be able to get color matching clothes, and why would they care if nobody can see it?
