Having had the iPhone X for a year now, I think the camera is not that great. In some instances it does look impressive, but in many cases it's kind of disappointing. I've kinda lost faith in Apple making a groundbreaking camera, not expecting this year to be any different.

They don't give a crap about users and their struggle with 64G, their only concern is $ and they will do literally any dirty trick to force people buy more expensive model. Disgusting
It’s so disgusting I’m betting people aren’t going to have your insight and drive the revenue to a record breaking quarter.

They conveniently forget to mention that the Xr can also record 4K video at 60fps for $250 less that the Xs.
Well, it is a promotional video focusing on the Xs, so it seems quite normal they talk about the Xs. If you want to compare, apple has an excellent compare fonction on their website : https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/
[doublepost=1536838483][/doublepost]The question I’m more curious about is that all the journalists talk about the bigger pixels of the Xs sensor, but no mention if this is also the case for the Xr. I’m gonna suppose it’s the same sensor for the 3 phones, if not they’d probably mention it on the compare page to push people to the Xs, but if anybody has a serious source to confirm this, would be great, cause that’s the only thing that’s making me hesitate between the Xs and Xr (other than the price tag, obviously).

That was my point. I'm fine with the Xr starting at 64GB, but since they ask €300 more for the Xs one would expect some more feature on the high end model, an higher storage capacity being one of them.
I mean, it is ok if they ask more than €1000 for the Xs and Xs Max, but at least make no compromise on the base model. Many people would still pay for 256 and 512 so I don't think they'll lose much money, but they sold iPhones with a measly 16GB until a few years ago so other users are right, nothing new here.

Lol - they cannot mention everything - not enough time. Plus, you are cherry-picking one use case - can it record with 2X optional zoom? Nope. So there are more things differentiating those products that merit the higher price version and the lower price version. Something for everybody. If you decide you need to save that money, well, why not buy last years models? Or wait until next year and buy this year's top end model used! Simple.

Which will lead to even further price gouging, and as long as they still have "record breaking" sales, more price gouging again. The prices will continue to inflate as long as people keep buying anyway. Only one way to reverse that trend, and I'm betting that the cheaper $750 model reflects that - Apple is acknowledging that they were pushing their limits if they offered no sub- $1000 phone. That's also why only the 64GB model prices are featured in most advertising. If they continue to sell/develop Macs I hope the problems with the last two yearly laptop offerings will keep prices down for a while. Mac users appear to be much more upset/disappointed as a whole than phone customers - so far. Keyboard issues and lack of ports are looming problems for laptop customers. I've yet to find a valid reason for removal of the headphone jack a few years ago (other than increasing sales of wireless headphones), and though that cost them some iPhone users, people who didn't mind the port loss continued to buy the new phones at higher prices, regardless. That got Apple over that hurdle, and money saved by not providing the jack added to the profit margin.

Wish they'd just offer an SD memory slot for easy expansion, so if you bought the "lower end" 64GB model you could upgrade it as needed rather than fork over for a new phone. Maybe they could use all the space they saved by removal of the headphone jack for an SD memory expansion card - you can buy a 128 GB micro-SDXC card for $50.

I was recording some videos in a club this last Saturday with my X and got a load of grain. I was recording the visuals of the projectors. Never as good as this video, never the quality advertised.

You might want to consider and evaluate your technique, along with the conditions of the environment in which you're shooting.

That's no different than someone inexperienced purchasing an expensive dSLR, and then complaining that the photos they make are not as good as those shot by someone with years of experience.

It's interesting that it tends to be only after release of the "new and improved, "best iPhone we've ever made" models that one hears of all the deficiencies with last year's "new and improved" models. That's successful marketing.

The price is the price. If you think Apple is price gouging, there are plenty of inexpensive phones that slow one to make a phone call, check email, check Facebook etc. Apple created the post-$1000 phone maker and now Samsung has stepped right into it.

As far as the headphone jack now that some android vendors are removing the jack I’m sure more will follow.

So if you really believe apple is price gouging we as consumers should be thankful there are alternatives.

Borrowing an analogy from the car world, when Porsche announces its newest 911 is .5 seconds faster to 60 whilst getting 2 mpg more; does that mean it’s prior model was deficient as you are suggesting (only due to its being Apple)

Or perhaps manufacturers tend to improve their product year over year.

Low light just means turning off the 20 lamps used to get a perfect picture, duh.

No it’s not. You’re saying if someone takes a picture outside with no lights or lamps that it’s low light?

Low light means what it means, it doesn’t mean a bright light in complete darkness. Look up the performance of a Sony A7S to see what low light performance actually Means. That thing can see in the dark.

I was being facetious, lol. Guess the sarcasm didn't come across very well. :p

That's what I'm saying. They have a well lit scene with good visuals. It's gonna look good shot with literally anything. They never promote photos taken in suboptimal lighting for example.
Yeah they do. A lot of their shots have poor lighting.

Non-life-essential luxury and hyper-expensive. This. Nailed it.
Let's get real...phones are as essential as any product these days. Or are you a food, water, and shelter only guy?

If people like iOS and the Apple experience, what's wrong with it? Plenty of other $750 and $900+ devices out there.

So glad they finally put a 4K and a slomo-1080p camera into the iPhone XS! Time to upgrade from my X
Is it really worth the upgrade. I was thinking of doing rhe same but 2k 60fps slow mo on the X is ok. Most people can’t tell the difference between 4K and 2k.
