I can't believe there are no, "camera sucks compared to my NiCannon 1D + raw L 0.1 aperture lens. Good job macrumors! More likely it's because it's Sunday... :)

In 2017 the goal is to get some order back to MR by discouraging the trollers to go elsewhere. The ongoing debate is whether to shame them by pointing out the inanity of their comments or simply to ignore them as they are mostly insecure people striving for attention.

If you wish so...

iPhone 7 camera (and all smartphone cameras) sucks compared to my Canon EOS 1300D ($315 body only) with EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens ($125). Here is a sample image:

Of course, each smartphone has to have a camera and the greater the camera the better. But for the sake of people's children, I hope most of us are not that lazy or that confused by smartphone ads that we skip real photo cameras in favor of smartphone cameras for taking the pictures that really matter (children pictures in particular).

Edit: apparently direct links to images do not work. So, here is a link to the camera review with sample imags.

I hope the girl is clued up when her Grandma asks her to send it to her, how to send it to her Android phone

I knew we could depend upon someone to find a way to denigrate a great ad. You win. But of course, in the game of life...
I believe you are now about the 50th person to be added to my ignore file. You win again.

"Use your phone!" is what is said when there is a Google Pixel in the room...

(I love my 7+, chill out)

You missed the point. My camera costs less than iPhone and takes much better pictures. Your camera is a little bit more expensive.

you could be right. never tried it.

I'm a bit concern about how it would fit in jeans and so... but I'm sure it's ok

At this point it's no longer a phone, but a personal data assistant that also functions as a telephone. I used to rock the SE, so I know a thing a two when it comes to one handed advantages.

5.5 Inches is a great size, if you add a love handle on the back it makes it so easy to use one handed.

Nice try Apple. But we´re not living in 1910 anymore where owning a camera was the only thing you nedded to make you an admired photographer and everyone is rallying around you. In reality at least the little kids in the village would yawn and pull out their own iPhones.

Bitter much? It's a beautiful ad, the phone is selling extremely well, so much for trolls to deal with I guess

I'm gonna miss the old man diving off the platform. It showcased everything about the phone - the incredible stereo speakers, the splash-proof design, and how you can use your iPhone to pick up young hotties laying out by the pool.

This one just showcases some defective second camera thing that makes everything blurry :(

I was hoping for a follow-up ad with the old man and his new girl, showcasing the Hermes watchband or something that he bought her after catching her attention with his beautiful splash-proof phone with the awesome speakers. We know she was totally into him after that sweet dive, but then what?

She looked like she'd probably go out for drinks with him if he bought her a Hermes band with the square digital watch thing. Just the two of them staring at each other across the table, tapping their watches to exchange their heartbeats.

Time to take a cold shower :D

Beautiful ad, beautiful country and people.

And, speaking as a photographer, an impressive camera and feature that will help many craft really nice photographs.

Your point is moot because your camera serves a different function.

How good is your camera at uploading images to Facebook?

Are your family & friends able to share your experiences 'Real time'?

Do you pull your camera it of your pocket while the kids are playing at the pool?

Can you submit a reply to this post on your camera?

I love the shallow depth of field in the portrait mode on my iPhone 7 plus. I just wish they made the longer lens a little faster allowing it to be more useful indoors or in low light. Wishful thinking, I know, but it would be nice to have all that in a non-plus iPhone too.

Yeah, it almost immediately occurred to me that Apple could have even featured the fuzzy background portrait mode in the follow-up storyline of Apple love.

The young lady is sitting with her friends at the café in Greece, swiping through her selfie portraits. Then she blushes as her friend points to one - "Oh, is THAT how you got..."
In the portrait on her gorgeous iPhone, she's clearly making the O face - but WHO is the mystery man, blurred behind her?
"Yes," she winks, flashing the exquisite band showcasing her new smart bling, "He gave me Hermés."

Apple. Think Responsively.

on another note, for those of us who don't own the 7+, the Patch app does a decent job with a bit of manual tweaking under good lighting conditions and not too complex a subject at the front.

In 2017, the goal is for Apple to show us some of that roadmap so that the amount of trolling reduces.
There are many ways to skin a cat...

I'd have to disagree that they are people striving for attention, trollers yes, but there seems to be a new type of commentor, that used to love Apple but does not like the direction they are taking. They may appear to be a little trollish but are really just mighty pissed at Apple.

Perhaps 2017 can be the year that anyone who is drinking the koolaid can see things from other peoples point of view too. These people are just as bad and write 'trolling' like defence of Apple.

I'll put bets on whether this post or yours gets more likes...

Oddly, most of the subtitles are spot on, except the second line- "my love" not "welcome".

No big deal but stuck out to this native speaker like a sore thumb.

That and the accents are a little off- maybe northern?

Since when these have become camera functions? You are probably confused. Why would I want to read/post on a forum from my camera? As for other stuff, in case you did not know, one can transfer the photos from the camera via wifi (and there is NFC for easy pairing to any smartphone but iPhone)

if only Apple could stop fragmenting the iPhone and give to both models the same camera options. I don't want to have a bigger phone and yes I do want to have this feature. awesome feature.

so lame IMO

What would happen in reality is that the 7 plus would just have no dual camera.

It's pretty accurate when we are talking about small Greek villages though. Not everywhere is the US when it comes to the prevalence of technology.

You don't know what you're missing until you get a bigger phone. You won't want to go back, especially with all that extra battery life.
I went for the 6s Plus model for the larger size thinking I would like it. Which I do if I am sitting down and can have one hand on it.

But, the majority of the time I use it one handed and it is a pita. I hate the larger size now.

I was thinking of downgrading to the SE, but it doesn't have the larger storage available.

I agree with the post you quoted, it would be nice to have some of the nicer features on a smaller size phone.

There will always be trolls regardless of what Apple does. Apple had its share of critics when they announced the iPhone, the iPod, the iPad, the MacBook Air; pretty much everything Apple did was mired in controversy.

What we need is more informed, in-depth and well-reasoned arguments. No more of this knee-jerk "Fire Tim Cook" or smart-ass quips which contribute absolutely nothing to the main discussion at hand.

People need to stop and think through what they want to say first before saying it. There is no prize for being first where this sort of thing is concerned.

That will instantly shave off the majority of the useless posts in these threads, make them more readable and help promote more meaningful discussion.

You can be unhappy with the direction Apple has take and still be respectful and civil about it.

Simply put - I don't really care what these people feel about Apple. They are free to hold their own opinions and think whatever they want about Apple. But when they start crapping all over this forum and start making the atmosphere of this place so much more hostile and toxic, that's when I feel compelled to step in.

I like this place. It has been a steady source of information and productive discussion ever since I fled Cnet and Engadget and the last thing I want to see happen is for Macrumours to devolve into another seething morass of toxicity and hostility. And so I do the only thing I know - I push back against the hatred.

Maybe I am making the problem worse, but I know I can't just sit back and do nothing while I watch this whole place go to crap. I won't.

Cause and effect.

We need doctors because people get ill. We need police because there is crime. I go where I am needed, and post when I am needed.

One cannot exist without the other.

When the acerbic trolling stops, I too will stop. That is my promise to you and this forum.
