Funny I've lost count of the apps Ive bought in the App store that didn't work and Apple refused to refund my money, not to mention the countless times I've bought IAPs and didn't receive the item and fought with Apple for a month and also not gotten a refund.

I'm sure they conveniently left out how badly the App Store is designed, how it often has trouble completing multiple app updates and has arbitrary limits to download size when not on WiFi.

All Apple really has to do is make their software better and sell phones that don't have massive premiums tacked on top yet do absolutely nothing that truly would make your smartphone better than an Android phone at half the price.

I use an Android phone but an iPad for tablet and the main reason why I don't buy iPhones is that I don't like many things on the software side and the expensive phones.

I have been very tempted to get an android phone myself, but iMessage is the main thing keeping me on the iPhone. Android or the carriers need to find a comparable solution ASAP.

Or are they just pushing two more ads to make us buy their stuff? Just like all other companies do.

Disagree on the ‘Pushing.’ Apple products sell itself. I think they want to emphasize the iOS continual updates and security for the consumer. In today’s digital world, both of those are crucial for success of a smart phone, as hardware really is secondary, being smart phones are generally well made.

I always find these clever, but those that already have Android find the iPhone too expensive, or just simply out of their league because they already use Android and don't want to learn another phone. It might happen, but Apple should know that these ads are already not help influence those that have Android

Not to mention the Android fans that will say "yeah but the notch" or "Yeah but Android is better because 'blah blah blah'"

I've beat the "what's better about Android" to death in here so I'll skip all the details. As a non-biased user I prefer Android as an operating system but the pixel xl2 (the only hardware I'd really want) is too big for my liking. I also like the apple watch so kinda giving the iphone X a good run until a better pure Android device comes out in a smaller size or iOs gets more to my liking again (I miss Forstalls ios).

Too expensive? Ya for some users but there are plenty of people shelling out top dollar for their Pixel and Samsung devices which are in the same range as an iphone 8 so it's not about cost for everyone including myself.

I hope you have actually used an Android device recently for an extensive period of time before making a "blah blah blah statement about how Android is VS ios. Nothing bothers me more than users on both side of the smartphone battle that make blanket statements without ever using it. Also if Android users can't figure out how to use iOs intuitively, just picking it up and using it, than that tells you how off the rails ios might be as that was its biggest benefit in the past.

Neither are perfect, both are better at different things, both are very good boils down to personal preference.

"Apple shares ads"? Is Apple sharing those ads on social networks or something? Or are they just pushing two more ads to make us buy their stuff? Just like all other companies do.

"Make us buy their stuff?"? Are you unfamiliar with advertisement? A company explains why you should buy their good or service in hopes that you do so. I don't think Apple is making anyone do anything.

80% of the world uses Android.

But Apple has $275bn in cash reserves.

This is an Infinity War, truly.

A bit of a throw back to the Mac/PC days, albeit a bit less snarky; however, despite enjoying the ads they are ripe for satire, and I don't think Apple has enough of a lead to be playing it up like this.

I miss those

Ads and commercials are not going to bring me back. Adding more functions to iOS 12 is what would help. I would love to come back, but not until I have true multi-window, like I use daily with my Note 8. Almost every thing else I own is Apple except for my phone. I like my wife's 8 plus, but not better than my Note 8.

I also hate not being able to download rar files and extract them like I can do on my computer and my Note 8. That is not as much of a big deal as the multi-window.

Oh, I 100% agree. I feel like even the small things like AirDrop wouldn't be a thing if it were for the Android version of it (I forgot what Samsung did for this). But Android has something that Apple doesn't, that that is very cheap phones. Android has more $100 phones versus Apple with their $350 iPhone SE, and people will look for the cheaper option versus security. Although these ads successfully show what the iPhone plans to do, most don't see their current phones as a bad thing.

Not disagreeing with you, but saying that Apple's tax is very extreme, and most Android phones even the expensive ones are victim to the same OS and that is what Apple is trying to show here, even though Android dominates the entire market.

To those reading this comment, I feel like I commented on this in a very unorganized manner, and I apologize
While I agree with all the things you said, AirDrop was around way before Samsungs version, it just was Mac to Mac at first. They didn't release it on the phone before that (Who know if that was their plan or not).
But this is completely irrelevant to your comment.

The old Mac vs. PC ads are hilarious. The sterile ads in this article are not even comparable.

And........?

Are you implying Apple and Google are equal because Apple tracks users?
Actually, Apple does about the same amount of stuff with your data that Google does, the difference is Apple denies doing it while Google admits exactly what they do with it in plain, easy to understand English. This ultimately means things like Siri won't every won't ever work as well as Google Assistant because it can't access your personal data, at least not officially.

So, no I don't think Google and Apple are equal, I think Google is ahead because you actually know right where you stand with them.

Compared to Google who has a refund policy in place that usually allows you to automatically get a refund within a certain amount of time.

Love Apple products, but they are truly dropping the ball on software and not just the OS that still feels very much old with a bunch of band-aids on it. The fact they lock out good programmers intentionally because they push the envelope on what the systems can do but allow scam/spam apps to continue to get into the app store is absolutely crazy! So basically if you are a great programmer who wants to better the way the system works.. better not upload anything to their store as they'll pick it to death, telling you to remove things. BUT, go ahead and release another sticker pack of ripped off emojis, we like those. Nonsense, just like the commercials.

There are plenty of alternatives, such as WhatsApp, etc. that work much like iMessage without all of the complications that Apple has caused with iMessage when switching phones.

Apple should have a reasonably priced phone. Not saying 16GB model or crazy things like that. Just more traditional materials, less tolerances on the build, maybe a slightly less high-end camera, no Bionic chip, fewer cores. Not everyone can afford the latest and greatest, nor do they want to play the most demanding games. As it is right now, Europeans who aren't particularly rich have no choice but to get Android. I'm not talking about those who buy $1000 Android phones, because they chose not to get Apple in the first place. It's very tough to compete against Xiaomi and OnePlus at that price point. They're good enough devices at a reasonable price. You know, not everyone is addicted to the shiniest gadgets. Then there's Eastern Europe, where people are bringing home $600 a month, not $6000, like in the San Francisco Bay Area.
It’s not the reason Europeans are poor and the reason they don’t buy Apple iPhone. The real reason is that the competition has caught up with Apple’s offerings and most of Apple’s service offerings are poor here. We don’t have Apple Pay, maps is a disaster, Siri is a disaster, what’s app is the standard here so it makes iMessage useless. And the Galaxy S9 is even cheaper than an iPhone 8. The price of an iPhone X is ridiculous for what you get. You can have better Androids with better camera and displays for half the price. The days Apple was hip over here has long gone. I see more and more people switching to Android over here and as a long time Apple fan, that hurts. But apple’s greed is to blame here... if their programs and offering wouldn’t suck so much they could rule the world. Too late now... Apple is stagnant, uberpriced and outdated in hard- and software offerings. Thanks Tim

Samsung making fun of Apple just goes to show how desperate, not funny and uncreative they are, while Apple attack ads on android are innovative, magical, creative ,and funny.

Apple today shared two new videos in its "Life's easier on iPhone" series, which are aimed at encouraging Android users to switch over to an iPhone.

The first ad, "App Store," depicts exploding app icons that are meant to demonstrate the superior safety of the iOS App Store, which is curated by human editors to protect against malicious apps.

Apple's second ad highlights Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting on the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X, both features that are designed to offer studio quality effects with the iPhone.

The two ads are both 15 seconds in length and will likely be used both on TV and on social media sites like Instagram. Last week, these ads were uploaded to Apple's YouTube channels in other countries, such as Mexico.

Apple earlier this year started sharing several short videos designed to lure Android users to the iPhone. All of Apple's videos in this series link back to the "Switch" website, designed for customers who use an Android device or other smartphone and are thinking of switching to an iPhone.

Apple's Switch website answers simple questions like "Will it be easy to switch to iPhone?" and "Will iPhone be easy to use?" It also offers up details on key features that make the iPhone stand out compared to other smartphones, like Face ID, Portrait Mode, iMessages, the App Store, and more.

Apple has aimed to encourage Android users to switch to the iPhone for years with its "Move to iOS" app that makes it quick and easy for Android users to swap to an iPhone and transfer data like contacts, message history, photos, videos, web bookmarks, mail accounts, and more.

If I spent all of my time on an app store or taking portraits, I might switch. But I actually use my phone for productive things and that is where my Note 8 phone shines over my blah iPhone. At the end of the day, the iPhone is simply an app repository.

I believe it’s 85% already. iOS is schrinking rapidly and no money in the bank can turn that tide if you don’t use that money in making it better and cheaper.
