How's the stability in the DP? (more specifically related to any kind of data corruption, etc...)
I've loaded up Xcode 6, and iOS 8 from our dev account but haven't had the nerve to try OS X 10.10 yet.

The 10.10 Developer Preview is a fairly buggy, and I think your results may vary. So far it seems to be working pretty well apart from the Finder and Safari crashing more often. There are some small bugs here and there, especially with the newer features. So far my MacBook Air has been handling Yosemite very well I think. I'd install it on an external partition, or back up your files first before installing.

The mail and preview icons are totally out of place.

Agreed, they stick out like a sore thumb because of the tiny photographic images that they use. I really hope they finally give all the icons a facelift to better match the new look of the interface.

Yosemite's design looks better than iOS 7/8. If iOS 9 or 10 looks more like Yosemite, I will gladly welcome it.

Agreed, what I don't understand is why OS X icons are still great looking with depth and textures and dimension while iOS icons are just flat simple looking things. OS X 10.10 is what I more or less envisioned when it was announced that iOS was being redesigned with a flat UI.

Personally I hope iOS 9 looks more like Yosemite. I think they did a great job with the updated UI, colors and all.

I am trying to see if I can get the old Dock back, I don't favour the new 2D dock. I might have to copy the old Mavericks dock files and images and replace it with those in OS X Yosemite .

I'm sure it's as easy as replacing some image files...

Except it's not. The 3D effect is rendered by software. The resource images are 2D. Same goes for the shadow Dock icons cast on elements behind it. They're not actually included in the .icns files. Replacing Dock.app with an older version won't fly either as it's handling much more than just the Dock. You'll end up with a broken installation.

Personally I always thought Apple went overboard with the 3D Dock. Looks kitschy too.

The Finder looks a bit too happy for me. On the Apple website it looks a bit sadder.

Better?

Hmmm, nice and all but, ahem, will it be stable, fast, and efficient like SL was? Remember SL people? That was the last truly functional and stable OS Apple ever produced.
