I'd take bug fixes and performance improvements over new features any day.
Same here. Loved the fixes and improvements of iOS 12. The few actual new features we got with it were kind of like a nice “bonus”. I think I remember watching the keynote for 12 and Craig said something like if all they had done with 12 was performance enhancements, he thinks it would have been a great release. To that...I agree. I honestly can’t think of too many “new” things that I’d actually want to see in 14. I’d have to think about that a bit 😂 For my uses...it’s perfect, feature-wise. Stability and better performance would be plenty enough for me!

I’m really hoping iOS 14 is a big one and not a small S year like 12 was
I'm really hoping iOS 14 introduces modest new features and fixes a ton of bugs present in iOS 13.

I'm also hoping the same for macOS. I'm calling it now, the next macOS will be "Avalon" (the main city on Catalina), in the same way that we had Leopard -> Snow Leopard, Lion -> Mountain Lion, Yosemite -> El Capitan, and Sierra -> High Sierra.

This WWDC will take about 5 hours, enough stuff to talk about ;D
This WWDC will run a whole week, like the others. But the keynote might run a little long.

Someone should lock Tim Cook in the closet on June 22, otherwise another Apple event will be ruined by his fake excitement again.

I thought Tim is out of the closet ba-dum-pshh

“From Apple Park”. Just as I thought, it didnt make much sense to have it at Steve Jobs theater given that there’s no audience. I expect that it’ll be a lot like Craig Federighi‘s iPad Pro demo. We’ll probably see some outdoor segments, Apple Park cafeteria and maybe in the Steve Jobs Theatre lobby. There’ll probably be ad format videos in betweeen segments.

I’d even argue that this might mark the end of the Stevenote era. Apple Park is such a beautiful campus. Showing it off during their presentations is probably better than watching people on a stage. Sure, there’ll be press events where Apple can interact with the world’s media face to face and they can try the new products in person, but these events may never again look like the keynote that Steve Jobs popularized.

Oh lovely, that clip was so staged and stodgy it even made my cold consultant heart shudder.

I’m curious to see how this virtual event is handled, but personally, I don’t think it really needs to be an audience. Really looking forward to iOS 14, as I think there’s some really interesting features that will pair nicely with new upcoming products.

I get it’s marketing and being apple

but really no need to say
“Biggest “event

It actually starts to sound like an insecure men

biggest this
Longest that
U will love it
I can’t wait to show you

Haha, well I’m sure you’ll be disappointed when they release “our best iPhones yet” this fall. Sounds better than, we changed a lot of stuff this year, you might like, you might not. People that want, good enough don‘t tend to get excited about Apple toys.

But I feel you. Sometimes the over-exaggeration gets tired.

I think it is gonna be recorded - just like the release of the iPad magic keyboard video by Craig.

My bet is a mix just like a normal keynote. There is quiet a bit of canned brag reel in current keynotes.

I used to enjoy these events... but the marketing & narcissism just started to get to me. Now I just want to see whether they've released anything I can feel positive about... or if they've regressed yet again in some way, usually by way of the Wall Street heroin needle.

Eh, I can’t remember when it’s ever NOT been about marketing and narcissism. But, I’m guessing there won’t be anything for you to feel positive about. And, their regression towards marketing to the generation you used to be in will continue.

I doubt it. iOS 11 was a mess just as iOS 13 currently is. iOS 14 might be similar to 12 in the sense that it’s more focused on bug fixes than new features, but hopefully we’ll get a few new features that’ll be useful.

I am sure the keynote will be low key at the Steve Jobs theatre, just don’t expect any panning to the audience, since there likely won’t be anyone there.

They could do it as a canned edited presentation. Or they could stream it live from an empty theatre. Or they could invite 20% of the usual press, plus some number of employees as a sparse socially distanced cheering section. Does Santa Clara allow that yet? How do you cheer wearing N95 masks?

Apple Develeopoer app just crashes when I attempt to open it. So the message in the announcement email ‘Be sure to download the app’ is a bit pointless for me!

Even though I have no money and won't have for the foreseeable future, even though I hate the idea of them jumping off ship from the x86, it's always nice to see presentations of new computers, especially since only Apple does them any more.

The email describes the Keynote as "announcing the latest software updates and innovations"... does that mean this year they're strictly sticking to this as a dev's conference with no hardware announcements?
