Oh come on.
We can barely find any of Series 4 in stock from both Apple (Retail+Online) , and resellers here in Thailand.

I heard they sold more than 3000 watches on the first Apple Store opening day

Has anyone ever seen someone wearing a Xiaomi watch?

It really is. IDC, Gartner, Forrester... all scams. They make money by selling reports (poorly researched, many guesses), and if you spend more with them, you'll magically look more favorable in their reports. The whole thing is such a racket. And the pubs/sites still give it free publicity cos they need any news they can get their hands on... even if the news is fake. Shame on you MR for spreading this garbage, considering how many times Apple proved them wrong... quarter after quarter after quarter.

Hmm,

I’ll stick with my Apple II gs watch which I acquired in 1986. I’ve been wearing it since my Mickey watch gave up the ghost. Wait, what the hell does “gave up the ghost”. mean?
To give up the ghost means to expire or die, or in the case of a mechanical object, to stop working. The phrase may be traced back to the King James Bible, printed in the 1600’s. The term is used in several places in the Bible, including Mark 15:37: “And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.”

I don't know anyone with an Apple watch, although I did talk to someone once who was wearing one.
My boss, who is a Windows user, has an iPhone and an Apple Watch. I also have an engineer friend of mine who has an Apple Watch. So there's two in my little "orbit".

Doesn't it get a bit tiring, hauling that extension cord around???

I'd imagine if you asked people in China you'd get a lot of "yes" responses to your question.
Even in my place many are buying Xiomi wearable which is really cost effective and practical.

This is not like mobiles where there are good chances that they can undergo physical damages easily and cannot be protected easily with cases.

No one wants their wearable that costs $200 and above to be exposed in such situations. Many of the wearable from Xiomi are less than $80-$90

Are you sure you don't live in Siberia? :)

It probably depends on where you are, in the US and Canada they are pretty common while I’ve never seen a Xiaomi wearable around here. China probably would be the opposite and Europe maybe representing 95% of the Samsung market...

That's quite true. All it depends where. In the UK I get to see them mostly in supermarkets or places where people pay with Apple pay. Same goes for the Airports. I see people wearing them everywhere.

Still waiting for the Apple Watch Lite. No LTE, no health features or sensors. Just larger battery and iPhone notifications for $99

I think you will find that your waiting time will be like - forever. Health/fitness is the bread and butter for the Apple Watch.

I think the fact that there is literally no availability for the series 4 in most stores (here in Sydney) is a major factor. I tried for weeks and weeks to get my hand on a Gold SS but couldn’t so settled for the Nike on its launch day.

Xiaomi sells lots of watches around £20. There will be lots of them bought as Christmas presents for relatives that you don't really care about, and you never seen them worn.

Seriously, I'd like how many of the 4.2 milion Xiaomi watches are in that category.

Have you ever been to China? I have. Xiaomi bands are everywhere. They have over a billion people.

I had an amazfit bip before and it was pretty good. Using a miband for sleep tracking.

That's true for other cheap Chinese products, but xiaomi products are very high quality and super cheap!

Series 4 was only available for a couple of weeks during the quarter, yet it accounted for 20% of all Apple Watch Shipments if we believe IDC.
And since when is October part of Q3?

I think there is a clear consensus that the vast majority of Apple Watch users care more about the health features than about notifications. If you look at the wider market, devices with health features (or even largely only health features) vastly outsell notification-only devices. There wasn't really any smartwatch ('wearables') market before fitness trackers (or to go back further, before sport watches).

Buying xiaomi or fitbit watches/activity bands when you have an iphone is the same stupid cheap ass running threadmill with corded headphones. That phone will come flying across the floor sooner or later.

These numbers are made up but I am sure Apple are selling alot of watches and are not even close to feeling any pressure from other brands. I see Apple Watches everyday on any kind of person and I also see some Samsung Gear 3 and fitbit watches but they are made 1:20 ratio with Apple Watch..

:) If i look out my window at work I don't see any Rolls Royce, Ferrari's or Airplanes. So, I conclude there have been no sales of either of these :)
I usually park my car in the same spot every morning, and there actually is one Maserati parked in exactly the same spot most days. So they must be selling cars.

I didn't even know they made a watch.
"Xiaomi watch" in Google gives immediately pictures of six watches, some for around £20 and some for around £100. So to some degree this is like a statistics of manufacturers of "things on four wheels", and you have a company making busses, one making sports cars, and one making skateboards.

Has anyone ever seen someone wearing a Xiaomi watch?

Yes. I myself bought a Mi Band for 25 Euros after seeing tons of people last summer wear it. All kind of regular mid aged people wearing them. So I bought one and now everyone in my family from wife to parents has one. So yes in Europe its quite big, just think of China how big it must be over there.

What's with the insecurity?

Xiaomi doesn't even sell their wearables in the US, so it's unlikely that you'll see anyone wearing them unless you're purposely importing it.

Quarters are a well established and commonly used frame of reference. But agreed, it would have been better to see weighted figures. But you know, statistics. Most people don’t.
Look at volume, this is by far not a new iPhone-like category.
Apple not providing unit sales data is hardly a sign of supremacy.
Stock price falling implicate that the financial world doesn’t let itself be fooled.
