I wouldn’t exactly consider Apple small. 132k employees and more revenue than the companies you mention.
I wouldn't either and didn't. If you think I did, then you took what I said out of context.
I didn't even allude to that. Each time I used the word small referencing Apple's size, I said "in comparison" ... not that they are small in general. However, to directly address what you said: in regard to its workforce, Apple has world-wide retail locations, so its workforce is relative to retail companies with world-wide business. If you're comparing Apple to a mom and pop shop of course its huge, but in the context of what I was saying and in its own arena it is not. Even Walmart has 2.5 million employees, Amazon had 623K pre Whole Foods acquisition, Whole Foods added another 91K. In that regard, Apple more closely compares to a subsidiary of Amazon, than Amazon itself.
That aside, I also said any metric outside of money, but you stated exactly that.
In a money-focused society, for most people it's all about the money, and that blinds from the reality. I've had many conversations with people that all think Google is the "little guy", in comparison to Apple. Financially that is true, but the reality of supporters, users, integration, and almost every other metric it's exactly the opposite. The number of Apple bashers far outweigh the Apple lovers, the discrepancy is so large it's perceivably to the point of bullying. There are countries with large populations where comparatively Apple doesn't really exist.
But the one metric that matters to many people is money, so they see nothing else. -- Many equate money to power, when the truth is, that's bias / interpretation ... money is not a synonym of power / not a substitute; power is power. Google could shut down the communication networks of entire countries if they wanted to. Microsoft could too, most of our governments, hospitals, and banks run on Windows. Malls are being abandoned because of Amazon. Apple has no way near that kind of power. Apple makes more money than the rest, that's it. Apple's products and devices aren't anywhere near as integrated in corporations as the companies I mentioned in my prior reply, and there are many more companies that can grind more corporations to a halt faster than Apple could.
Even Qualcomm could.
But people believe in money so much, and many hate based on it.
