Another thing we don’t do in the US, teach basic engineering to children. Most have to wait for middle or high school here before they can take it, but not all schools across the country offer any longer either. China is even teaching kids how to write code at a young age too, you’d be lucky if any high school in the US offers it as an elective.
The sooner kids are filled with notions, the worst their creativity and growth will suffer.
It's widely known in Northern Europe that it's better to postpone than anticipate teaching kids. This way they enjoy more their youth and - not surprisingly - at a later age their grades will be better than those of other countries that believe this "the sooner the better" approach.

I’m talking basic engineering. It would be the equivalent of wood shop, not erecting skyscrapers. Most of these programs get stripped out of the US public school system. Don’t know if kids need to worry about basic coding in elementary school, but some very basic engineering concepts at 2nd or 3rd would put us further ahead than where we are today. The earlier you impress certain skills, than the more likely they’ll grow with you.
