as Apple would be wont to say - practically magic.

Used a charcoal one on my 6, still looks like the day I bought it; put a Black one on my 7 and expect the same from it

I bought a silicone case yesterday, but returned within minutes due to lint attraction. I got the leather case instead and it's WAY better.

I had a midnight blue on my 6s and while there's nothing exciting about it, it provides good grip, is protective for the kind of drops I do (on wood or carpet-never on concrete), and a year later it still looks new. Lint collection was a minor nuisance for me. I'm considering another one for my 7+.

Dan Moren (formerly of Macworld, now at sixcolors.com) has said on a podcast recently that his fits well and has held up and he likes it.

2.5 years ago my mom got one of those cheese-grater silicone cases for her 5c and it still looks new.

I can only speak for the product red silicone case as that's my go to colour. It never changes colour or loses any colour.

Actually, the leather has a better grip. Once you use it for a couple of days, the grip improves even.

The silicone was pretty slippery for me, but had better grip than the phone itself.

The black silicone case on my 6+ fell apart in 6 months. The pink one on my wife's 6s did too. I've probably just had bad luck, but I'm not buying another.

These are covered under a warranty if you've got a receipt with date of purchase. I had to have the one for my iPad Pro 12.9 replaced last week because one of the corners was starting to break - nothing small but there was a crack in it and the iPad hadn't been dropped. They immediately replaced it with one off of the shelf and I couldn't be happier. I personally like the texture and grip, they look super nice too.

I've got a midnight blue silicone case with Smart Cover on my iPad mini 4. My iPad has never been in a different case and I don't know if it ever will. It's super durable from what I can tell (I haven't dropped my iPad), and it doesn't really get dirty. It gives the iPad a much better grip and I never feel like it's slipping. I bet the leather case feels pretty great too, and it obviously looks way more classy, but I don't usually go for that look.

The Smart Cover is pretty great too, and the fact at you can take it off whenever you want is really convenient for gaming and some other stuff. It's also pretty durable and doesn't really get dirty. One minor gripe is that the microfibre on the inside does wear down over time, especially if you rub it on your fingers with everyday use. Of course, that's normal but it's still worth mentioning. I'll also add that you can't get a Smart Cover for iPhone but they're great for iPad.

How hard is it to install or remove? Does it put wear on the phone at all?

I like the dark gray one on my 6. I would prefer to go caseless, but I dropped the slippery SOB and broke the screen earlier this year.

I had a silicone for the 6+ as a temp case. And within a week the shell (skin or whatever) started to peel off and then the whole skin was gone. Horrible i might try leather when my 7+ comes

Get the leather Apple case. The silicone sucks, it has a rather greasy feeling to the point of almost slippery and as others have said it attracts dust and lint.

Everyone always says the leather is way better, but its a matter of opinion. I have had both and the reason the leather does not work for me is a few things.

I have had a silicone for my 6s+ and well as the 7+ now. The "updated" one from the 7+ seems a tad more slippery and more "sheen" feeling in hand. I think this was from complaints about people having trouble getting it in and out of their pockets, or it attracting lint. But to me feels awesome!

Reasons i like the silicone is I find the leather more slippery compared to the silicone. The leather one won't even stay in my pocket in the getting in and out of my car. I have a 2 door coupe and the seating position is low and slanted to get in and out.

Other reasons i am in the gym 5 days a week, and same thing in seating positions or on the bench press the leather case will come flying out of my Nike Dri fit type pants i wear. The silicone provides JUST enough tack to stay. Also from sweat its not a problem with the silicone.

Last reason people over look, now that the 7 is water resistant & i tend to not mind my phone around water. Like grabbing it while my hand is wet from the shower to change the song while i listen to some tunes. Water with the silicone no problem.

Personally i like the "look" of the leather but like the feel of the silicone. I have a midnight blue and a white one for my matte black 7+. I am not gentle on them and they look brand new. I absolutely love this case, won't use another silicone from any other brand.

Everyone is different and has different needs. One thing that i don't like with the leather is the kinks or creases that happens on the front lip of the phone after time on the case edges.

Here is my midnight blue, and also a older picture of the white silicone one i had for my 6s+. Matched up great on my apple watch with the white silicone band for some storm trooper action.

Both me and my two sons have them. Dropped numerous times, never any iPhone damage or damage to case. Goes on/off easy once you get the hang of it.

I like it most because it has good grip when laid down in car on console or dash. Doesn't slide around.

I would think a store would let try both--

I've had both and prefer the leather. Silicone has more grip which makes it less easy to take in and out of pockets.

I've used Apple Leather cases for years but for my 7+ I wanted to try silicone this time. So far I'm loving it, great grip and feel, and suits the Matte Black vibe pretty well :)

the leather looks nice and classy. but what I hate about leather is that they wear easily.

I had to exchange a silicone case at Apple due to the silicone chipping away on the bottom edges. This was about two years ago after 3 months of use.

The store had no problem whatsoever and didn't ask any questions about the case. I guess I could suspect the chipping issue was seen by them before mine.

I've used the Apple leathers since then and the only issue is you probably need to oil the leather up once in a while as it will dry out pretty severely. Maybe some mineral oil or something Apple recommends.
