Apple silicone cases

I love my light blue silicon case. I bought it for iPhone 6 back in October 2015 and still use it on my 6s. If nothing bad happens I'm going to use it until this fall when I'll buy the new iPhone.
This is the best case I ever had for a phone, I like the grip it provides and I'm fond of the color, I really like how it shines on the while bezel.
It is a little pricey, but is it the only cover I bought in 18 months. I know many people who buy cheap plastic covers and change them every 2 or 3 months. It is funny since you can change the color and the appearance, but after a few covers you end up spending the same money I did

This screenshot is a pretty realistic comparison for the 'blue' range of the silicone cases:

.....additionally,if you watch the whole video, they show the other colours as well (probably the best video I've seen for comparing all the colours):

...sorry but after just ONE day with this case on, I've decided that it's JUNK.

It's just SO DAMN SLIPPERY - IT'S RIDICULOUS............

As a test, I removed the case from my iPhone 7 and was gobsmacked at how grippy the actual naked iPhone is in my hand - 100% more grippy than the poxy silicone case!??!?!

Tonight, I'm putting on back the leather case I got from Nomad, which is essentially just like Apple's leather case, other than Nomad's also covers the bottom as well.

Silicone case? DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. I. AM. DONE.

Dino, have you tried the Apple leather case?

Actually, yes - I also have the Midnight Blue leather case as well. I only bought the silicone one as I was getting fed up with the leather one, but may end up just going back to the leather.

I like the grip that the leather provides but I also like the slim form factor of the silicone case so still trying to decide between the two! I'm hoping the grip of the silicone may improve a little if I persevere with it a little longer!!!

I've had both the silicone and leather cases. The leather is nice looking, but horrible if it ever gets wet in the slightest way. The leather surface becomes rough and the color bleeds off. I had a pair of shorts ruined by this.

I've switched to silicone and find it much better. They feel slippery and generally weird at first, but the surface breaks in over time and becomes more grippy. In the end, it has more grip than the leather case. Plus, water doesn't bother it at all. Especially appropriate for my waterproof 7 Plus.

....well, I persevered with my silicone case, and have to say, that it is much more grippy now, now that the 'silky smooth' feel to it has bedded in a little!!

I can hold my iPhone 7, at a 45 degree angle (and, at an even steeper angle), in my right hand, with all my fingers on the back of the case (right thumb hovers above the screen, ready to touch it!), with the right bottom corner of the phone, in the fleshy part of my palm, and the phone doesn't move or slip at all.

Yeah I want to just say, this is why I think personally in my opinion (I respect others' :) ) that the silicone is better for the 7 in taking advantage of the water-resistance - with silicone on, you can truely use your iPhone 7 in the rain without any second thought, but leather, indeed, the colour does bleed off hideously in wet weather. And the texture slightly changes... I live in Sydney mind you, and its been raining bucketloads the past 30 days ^

My favourites from that thumbnail, best to worst:

1- Ocean Blue
2- Midnight Blue
3- Azure
4- Sea Blue

Mind you, I just want to get it out there, Azure looks vastly different in person than it does on Apple's website. It's really more of a candyfloss / bubblegum kind of colour when you see it, and I think it looks nice, just a little bit too light for me ^

So an overaction in your quoted post then? As a silicone case user I think you need to use it a while before appreciating its value.

....looks like there is a new 'blue' on the scene:

...wonder if this is the same colour as the old 'Ocean Blue' and just rebranded?!!

When I moved from a 4.7" iPhone with a leather saddle brown case to the Plus I opted for a silicon case just to have some more grip, which it does provide.

Silicon cases are more easy to have as others said. When I had the leather case I did treat it with leather cleaner and protection cream. Silicon does not mind liquids at all, and the extra grip also make it a little more difficult to slide the Plus into a pocket.

Also the Plus with a silicon case makes an excellent coaster to put my beer on when I sit on the sofa.

Blue Cobalt is an Ocean Blue clone, saw it in person. Kinda disappointing. Dark Olive is a new original one though that look pretty sweet :) Not interested in the other new ones.

The leather cases this year got all the nice colours - Cosmos Blue, Dark Aubergine, Charcoal Grey to name a few.

Anyways I think I'm done with Silicone Cases anyway - one real glaring flaw I have with them is they quickly absorb finger grease (even if your fingers aren't greasy) and then they look grimy and disgusting. And sure you can clean it, but still. Leather meanwhile absorbs it to develop, gradually, a patina.

...hmm, not sure about the Cosmos Blue either though:

.....I'm sure its a clone of another existing blue?!!

....well, I have shamelessly gone back to using a silicone case on my new iPhone 8 Plus!! Was boring and went with Midnight Blue AGAIN!

It's actually quite nice! It has great grip (tried the leather case in the Apple Store but it was SO slippery - perhaps because the leather was so new?) and I feel if I drop my phone, the silicone will make the phone bounce a little so will provide a little shock absorption (the leather case feels like it would be a harder impact if dropped)!

It does pick up a little lint but it easily rubs off!

I did consider going for the new Cobalt:

...however, when I looked at the colour in store, it was WAY brighter than the pic on the website?!

In actual fact, this colour is more realistic of the actual colour of the case:

...so chose the Midnight Blue instead!

^Thanks for the feedback. After reading some reviews on the dark olive, I’m going to pass. It’s not a true dark olive. I already have the midnight blue for my iPhone 7. I plan on getting the cobalt blue for my upcoming iPhone X. I like the fact that it’s a lighter shade of blue compared to the midnight blue.

I am using the Blue Cobalt silicone case with my iPhone 8+ now, the color of mine looks way darker than the picture you posted.

...hmm thats odd?!

Perhaps I'm think of the leather case then, which I saw in store, which was lighter?!!!
