IMHO Apple is on the down turn... There stuff isn't the same, I remember my first iMac G4 the thing was a tank and I used it right till 2009 when it got too outdated, I bought another Mac cause how reliable that iMac was but seems like their reliability have taken a hit. OS is outdated the iPhone 5 look has been around for awhile now and Apple prices are just getting stupid now. I looked at a MacBook Air and its nearly $2000 for 500gb hard drive! Kinda way over priced.

I like apple and it'll be sad to see them go on the down turn but Apple is playing it safe and their competitors are catching up and will start to make ground on them. Apple just doesn't feel the same as the bug free stuff it used to be, even my iPad 3 is bugging out since the os6 update safari crashes and freezes, these were things Mac OS in the past never had issues with. For the first time I'm considering making the switch back to windows, apple is over pricing their products and they don't offer the same reliability they use to offer, if I have to replace my computer every few years then I'm not spending $2000 or spending $1500 and only have 256gb hard drive, too many hoops customers have to jump through like with the air you cant upgrade ram or hard drive after you buy it, in the past I was annoyed but ok with it cause of the reliability but it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

If you want a large amount of storage, then the MBA (or any ultrabook for that matter) is not for you...you are better off getting a 13" MBP that comes standard with 500GB with a more powerful CPU than any MBA for $1200. As far as laptops go, I think that apple is very reasonably priced.

I personally love my MBA, but storage is not at all an issue because almost everything I use is off of network storage.

I think most people need to take a chill pill.

This is MacRUMORS.com not MacFACTS.com

There isn't even a source of this information listed and should be taken with a grain of salt. A simple market manipulation like this can make one stock brokers millions on a short.

Gee whiz, brains people.

If Apple wants to win back Android users, they need to do things. #1 revamp iOS, freshen it up with a new UI, and not just a screen full of static app icons. #2 offer a larger screen version like 4.3". And offer some customization in the OS, allow themes or options to chnage the way it looks.

If Apple does that, I would seriously consider ditching my nexus, for a new iPhone 6.

"Google: NFC Payments Growing, Still Three to Five Years Out"

So no, Google has not said that it will be useless for years as you said.

Yep but it was one of the way to propagate. Know if you prefere the one allowing taking control over your phone.

So no, NFC has nothing to do with the Galaxy bug as you implied
Apologies accepted ...

What apologies? You have only spreade wrong facts. The ones deserving apologies are the ones reading your claims

Quite sad really, I owned iPhone 3, 3S and 4 and while I loved them all I just got bored of iOS and wanted a bigger screen. I held out for iPhone 5 but was a massive let down and in many ways worse than the 4S So I decided to buy a Samsung Galaxy S3 and wow it's like a breath of fresh air :)

Really hope Apple get back on top of there game. For now though I believe I have the best phone.

Still absolutely love my iPad 4 despite iOS :)

My wife has A iPhone 5 but I am still sticking with my iPhone 4. There were times when I had to have every new Apple product. The software design is not doing it for me anymore. I am truly fed up with the look of the icons. Hopefully Jony comes up with new designs. I am even thinking of getting a Nexus 4 just to get something new in my hands.

Minority here?

I guess I'm in the minority here when I say that I was fine with the screen size iPhone 4 and 4S offered. I rushed to upgrade to iPhone 5 on launch and found myself not liking the elongated display.

I guess I will also be in the minority when I say that I still chuckle when I see a VHS tape sized (for those old enough to remember those, for those not insert waffle-sized instead of the VHS tape) devices next to someones face. I know I know, I'm old school and I don't use the trendy BT headsets I still put my phone next to my face when I'm talking.

So in the end, I guess am against having a larger screen... I am against carrying a waffle/VHS tape sized devices in my pocket and I absolutely refuse to buy a satchel, backpack, or any other name for a "purse" you want to use even though my european roots tell me that there is nothing wrong with a "satchel" ... I do a whole bunch of things on my iPhone and absolutely love it, I have hundreds of apps, songs, photos, movies, and if I want to have a larger screen I simply move to my iPad.

With the miniaturization of all tech components and the continuously "mini" things why are we looking for larger screens on the phones? :)

They slashed it because there is going to be a totally new, redesigned iphone. The 5's predecessor wont share the same parts.

Just kidding. I don't know, it could be true. I guess we'll have to see what Apple's 2013 lineup will be.

Hmmmm. Very interesting. Honestly, I think we could take two things away from this report. Firstly, Android devices are flooding the market and at very low costs. It's no surprise to me that Apple's part shipments are dropping. What consumers get for Android devices is often fairly reasonable compared to the iPhone (if not better in some areas) and the masses of people out there are obviously now flocking to these rather than seeing the iPhone as the smartphone to have. I'm in China right now and believe me, 70% of the phones I see people with are big, cheap Android devices. It's really astounding. Samsung and HTC are doing really well here from my perspective.

Secondly, this could mean that Apple are indeed preparing to release a '5s' in early 2013 like we've seen in some reports. Wouldn't be that out of the ordinary considering the iPad 4 timeframe. I for one am completely for this. I've long thought that Android devices outshine iPhone's in terms of hardware refreshes. Ever since the debut of iPhone 4 it's always felt like Samsung etc. have more compelling hardware ready to go straight after a launch. And let's be honest here, the iPhone 5 didn't exactly offer anything that would make anyone think 'oh man, that Galaxy S3 looks crap now'. I'm happy with evolutionary, not revolutionary, but it's pretty clear that Android devices have caught up with the iPhone and simply in terms of handsets, their manufacturers now offer a cheaper, viable and attractive offering. Anyone who can't see that must be blind.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a believer in Apple and iPhone. But product cycles should quicken to compete with Android devices and iOS needs some SERIOUS improvement. Actionable notifications would be a great start.

My next phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4 my last two phones were also from Samsung, namely S2 and S3. Before that they were iPhones. But i will never again buy an iPhone, unless they change theyr policies beeing limited in many factors!

Apple will release earnings on Jan 23rd, after the market closes.

Remember how hard it was to buy the iPhone 5 after it was released?
Remember all the polls, that said the iphone 5 was the #1 requested Christmas gift?
Remember the polls that show 90% of iPhone owners plan to get another iphone as their next phone?
And remember the report that showed that ios overtook android as the top mobile operating system, at 53% up from just 34% last year?
Remember how apple typically posts conservative earnings guidance, and even they say that this is going to be their best quarter ever?
You know how the stock is trading a a low earnings multiple despite all the money they have in the bank, and despite the fact that they're expected to grow 20% in the foreseeable future?

Remember how the stock jumped 10% after earnings on Jan 25th 2012? And then it did it again on April 25th 2012?

Anyone feel like tossing the dice?

Sorry, but you sound like the folks who wanted OS X to be Mac OS 9 with UNIX. Not happening on the theming and customization. Move on.

Doesn't matter, unless you bought Apple stock in 2000 it is basically useless. And if you did, congrats, but I hope you cashed in about 5 months ago.

It sounds funny that you said you don't like 90% people liking thing while loving iPhone; it's the single most popular phone.

Which was the whole point of my entire post?! I'm quite glad for the iPhone to become "unpopular".

As a question, why on earth are you on an Apple forum with the username "apple hater" don't you have better things to do with your time? Or is that supposed to be ironic?

Okay did you not read half the reviews on the Droid DNA? All say bad/terrible battery life due to the screen. Dont call me a baseless Apple fan when you dont know what your even talking about

HTC has always produced phones with subpar battery life, regardless of screen resolution. Try again.:apple:

Bull

Why on earth would they be ordering 65 million units for the March quarter anyway? Christmas is over. Maybe they had 65 million, or more sold for the holidays. And then they cut down for the part of the year when demand is soft. Here's the thing: Wall Street wants Apple cut down, and they make a lot of money just rocking the boat. Might it be true that sales are falling? Nope, except to the extent they always do after Christmas.

Apple is basically in the same position as RIM was 3-4 years ago. Back then, owning a Blackberry was still around the top, people still wanted a physical keyboard and the Blackberry still had a strong loyal following, but it was clear that a BlackBerry was no longer at the top of its game with the iPhone clearly being a better consumer product, while RIM kept on giving their customers sideways upgrades instead of innovation. We all know where RIM is now.

Seriously, the iPhone 5 is basically just a sideways upgrade to the iPhone 3GS / 4 / 4S. What has changed in the past year or two other then a slight normal increase in performance, a taller screen and LTE? What has iOS 6 brought to the table other then the Apple Maps debacle? How many people actually use Siri past the first few days of playing with it (and be honest)? Is Siri truly an innovation, or is it more of a gimmick (not to mention Google Now is better)?

In my department of 10 people (Canada), 5 months ago only 2 people had a S3, while several others had an iPhone 4 / 4S or other phones. Today, there are now 7 people with a S3 (myself included), 1 with a S2, and 2 with iPhone 4 that don't want to upgrade to iPhone 5 and are waiting for the S4 after seeing how much more can be done on an android phone. No one is even talking about iPhone in the office these days, a year ago it was mostly about the iPhone.

Now we are going to see yet another marginal upgrade in March with the iPhone 5S, a few months before the S4 will be coming out. Apple users are talking of a brand new feature called NFC, which has existed on phones for almost 6 years (Nokia 6131) and has existed on Android phones since 2010.

This is while we are getting news of the S4 allegedly having a full true 1080p 440PPI screen while the buzz word around here is still Retina display (1136×640 on an iPhone 5 at 326 PPI).

http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/01/14/galaxy-s4-samsung-shows-off-potential-display/

The Galaxy S4 is also rumored to have some other interesting features as well. It’s rumored to have a 13MP camera and Android Jelly Bean or Key Lime Pie, and it’s also suspected to have a quad-core processor. Samsung announced its new Exynos 5 Octa at CES 2013 and it could be the chip that is found inside the Galaxy S4 when it touches down on shelves.

It's clear that Apple has been a follower instead of an innovator in the past year and a half, and unless attitude changes it will become the next RIM (or the next Apple for those who remember what happened to them in the 90s).

Why on earth would they be ordering 65 million units for the March quarter anyway?

Exactly. Based on a quick Google search, Apple's 2012 iPhone sales per quarter were:

Q1 - 37 million
Q2 - 26 million
Q3 - 26 million
Q4 - 27 million

Maybe they had 65 million, or more sold for the holidays.

Analysts appear to be pegging Q1 2013 iPhone sales at between 43 million and 63 million, so...
