Has Apple ever "slashed" prices on something in the refurb store? I'm thinking half-off would be pretty crazy.

The best I ever saw was AT&T knocking the iPad 1 64GB 3G down to $499.

So why the sudden price cut? Heard Best Buy is giving 50 Dollars off an iPhone 5 as well.

Does this mean a new iPad is on the horizon soon?

Dam i should have waited lol now its 499. iam on the phone right now hopeing they will match the price.
they gave me back 55 dollars. so i got a 32 gig for 499 iam really happy now

wow thank you apple for saving me $20:rolleyes:

Yes. Saving $20 on an item unfit for sale the first time around and thus required 'refurbishment', is a joke.

I expect these types of discounts on a new product from any other retail outlet. Especially whe they are cynically clearing stock build-up for a new model line-up

I would rather pay full price for a 'new' item, when that new item is released sometime soon...

bring the Retina for the Mini :D

For me, bad eyes and all, I haven't had much to complain about with the mini, except it feels cheesy compared to the full size iPad, so I think I'd keep my mini for another year (if it holds out, been replaced once already) and then reevaluate the scene then... But I can see where having a crisper display would be a good idea. Maybe more storage space too? Rumors of a 128G iPad is interesting. I could travel with my entire music/app/book/iTunes U collections...

HOWEVER I have bought almost exclusively refurbished and have only had one iMac do a swan dive into pavement. You can look at it as buying someone elses reworked junk, or you can look at it as a product having an extended burn-in time and then a complete overhaul.

Everything I've bought refurbished has been aesthetically flawless, and has worked like new, AND is fully warrantied and eligible for AppleCare. And I've saved money, and I figure saved Apple from trashing the planet by shredding something that can be fixed. Saving up to 20% is nice.

Oh, and they stand behind the refurbished just as strongly as the new stuff...

Retina iPad Mini Phone.
- I'd always have it with me anyway...also, there's this new fandongo'd thing called bluetooth (phone size: irrelevant).

Thunderbolt display with USB 3 AND FIREWIRE.
The lack of flexibility in Apple's Thunderbolt-->FW adapter is going to make it break...or worse, wreck the port.

Let's try function over form factor...
For the love of woz.

I work at a freight company, and today I saw tons of apple products coming in. ALOT more than usual, so I kinda expect there gonna be some updates this upcoming event. And with this news, it makes even more sense.

In CA, I can't see any sense buying a refurbished Apple device from Apple. The tax is around 10%, making the "discount" 5% at most. I prefer buying it from B&H for example, where I'm not taxed and getting a new device for 5% more money, which is around $20.

Slashed... $20... Yeah, still do not want. I got a perfectly functioning, albeit out of storage, iPhone 4s. As soon as I make better use of cloud storage, I should be fine with what I got.

I just bought a refurbished ipad 4 yesterday!
Guys, what can I do to contact apple on the price difference? Damn, just my luck I'd miss the price reduction by a day..

lawsuits and apps are about as good as it gets around here anymore.

There won't be any new products, according to Tim, until fall.

Likely this summer we'll be entertained by lawsuits, apps and a falling stock price.

Hopefully iOS7 will help the iPad be more useful as a content creation device. I think there is a lot of potential for improvement in that area. Louder/better speakers would be a plus too.

There have been a few iOS 7 rumors, sadly they all revolve around the "flatter" UI... I have very low expectorations for iOS7 unfortunately.

My lucky day!

I bought a 64gb black wifi+4g lte AT&T iPad mini for 619$ a week ago..
Just saw the article and called apple, they're issuing a refund for the difference (70$!) back to my card. Thanks MR!

I was very pleased by the apple support rep who took my call. He handled it efficiently, personably and without issue. This is why I keep my business with this company. :apple:

I just did a few hours ago, getting a refund of the difference without issue. Give 'em a call!

Slashed!

I do not think it means what you think it means.

Never a 128gb Ipad in Refurb Store. Why?

WHY?
Why aren't these EVER offered as a refurb? Aren't they ever returned and refurbished? EVER?

It's got to suck when Apple doesn't do what you tell them, right? Seriously, refurbs "should" be something or another? LOL.

The refurbs were overpriced before. Looks like they were only about a 5% discount. Refurbs should generally be 15-20% off.

I'm always amazed when people are shocked  when Apple goes from over-over-pricing down to just their normal over-pricing.

----------

I love the one-size-fits-all thinking here. So you think everything that's refurbed was unfit for sale? Always, forever, no exceptions? LOL.

And then we have the "cynically". How do you know that they are cynically doing that? Couldn't they be generously doing that? No-one makes Apple reduce their prices.

And new product roll-out makes what you're buying today somehow less valuable? Uhm, nope. If you buy a discounted refurbed device today, something else appearing tomorrow doesn't make your decision any worse or better. If you needed the refurbed item THEN you still needed it THEN regardless of what happens in the future.

Why complain about an option you'll never choose when it doesn't affect your life at all? Whine just to whine, I guess?
