Not sure if I would say the prices were "slashed" maybe use "moderate discount" instead.

The refurbs were overpriced before. Looks like they were only about a 5% discount. Refurbs should generally be 15-20% off.

I'm always amazed when people are shocked  when Apple goes from over-over-pricing down to just their normal over-pricing.

Wow. A $20 price cut, now that's what I call slashing prices. Well done, Apple.

Refurbished prices clearly depend on how many refurbished devices Apple has. You'd set the rebate just low enough that you can sell them all or almost all. No good having a handful of refurbished devices, giving a huge rebate and then they are all gone within five minutes.

Hopefully iOS7 will help the iPad be more useful as a content creation device. I think there is a lot of potential for improvement in that area. Louder/better speakers would be a plus too.

The speaker has always irked me. I have to cup my hand around it to direct sound. Move the speaker to the front or place it to improve sound quality.

I agree on improved productivity. Most use iPad's for entertainment, just glance at the top paid and free app's, games, games, a few media apps. There are a few businesses that use them as an extension to their desktop systems, but for work, typing, everyday use - it hasn't broken into the corp sect enough.

279 for a refurbished Mini that should bring the used units prices down a bit , and might be time to sell the 4 soon...

The used iPad prices are fascinating. In my area, the local pawn shop has (and sells!) used first-gen wifi-only iPads for the same or higher prices as new iPad 2's at the Apple Store. People are brilliant. :D

Update: Apple has also knocked $30 off of the price of its refurbished Thunderbolt and LED Cinema Displays, bringing the prices down to $799 compared to $999 brand-new.

Arrrgh! Apple just replaced my problematic 2 24" LED LCD's with 2 27" LED Cinema Display yesterday. If they release new models and a Thunderbolt Mac Pro, I'll be irked. Looks like I'll be selling them and my Mac Pro for the updates. 2010 is too old for a current gen top of the line product.

thinner thunderbolt display

I am waiting...

$799 still pretty expensive, comparable dell monitors are at $500 to $600 range.

21.5" thunderbolt display will be awesome. 27" is too big for me. got 42" Plasma TV :D no need of 27" monitor

Is this evidence Apple will be releasing new Mini's in a few weeks? I don't want to jump on this deal if they release new Mini's at WWDC, but if they won't then I'll probably buy one. 14 days to return right?

I do the same thing with the speaker. Cup my hand around it... So I agree they need to put the speaker on the front...

You just got two refurbished, larger replacements and yet you'd be irked if they came out with new ones? Sheesh.

Must be a rough time for Apple right now. A lot of informed consumers holding back until WWDC (in terms of Macbooks) and the iOS devices losing their freshness.
Good point. I'm in the market for an iPad but I'm holding off until the next version.

They are brand new, not refurbished. Of course I'm thankful, although having two 24" LED LCD's that have had each of their LED panels replaced 2-3 times as well as power supplies, it was 2+ years of constant repairs. I have the chance in exchanging them as the current Mac Pro doesn't support Thunderbolt, which would allow daisy chaining and more inputs that I need, as well as an HD camera. However, unless a Thunderbolt Mac Pro is released, they wouldn't do much good.

As for assuming I'm ungrateful, I certainly am not, however the displays I had should not have been such a QC issue.

They were ahead in the display market and now quite abit behind. I'd like to see them release 32inch plus thinner than iMac.

Many local stores sell NEW for $299. I would pay the extra $20 for new.
This! Wal-Mart and Target for $20 more, no brainer. Warranty or not, the new one has nearly zero hours on its electronics. For $229 I would be interested.

Rumors have indicated that Apple is unlikely to launch its next versions of the iPad and iPad mini until late this year, but the company has apparently still decided to reduce pricing on refurbished units of the current generation in order to attract more buyers as its supply of refurbished units has undoubtedly grown over the past several months.

Is this normal for Apple? Some pundit is probably going to draw some sort of dire conclusion about this

"Slashed"

I do not think it means what you think it means.

Three Are Mine

I think three of those 128 iPads are mine :) Bought it 3 times this year and returned it, just can't justify spending $1,000 on the iPad 4 when my iPad 2 is still "good" enough - although, I'd love to have the upgraded camera, 4g and retina.
