It's basically Apple protocol to be fuzzy on telling customers they'll have products on launch day. They will have products, but if they verbally say "yes we'll have it", and that person shows up to find out they're all sold out, the person may try to start a scene, accuse apple of lying or having bad service, etc.. so it's just easier to be fuzzy about it.
I remember when the 1st gen ipod touch came out. I called the store on launch day on my lunch break and asked if they had it, they said no. I had time to kill so I walked over to the Apple store (just 2 blocks away) and asked if they had it, the guy said they had about 30 of them and gladly sold me one.
Just go to the store, the earlier the better. They're going to have em.
