I see NO reason they can't announce ALL five iPhone 12 models on Sept 10th.

I'm sure they have a good handle on the Release Dates for ALL five by now !

The 5.4" & 6.7" both have a new chassis, but NOT much different than the 5.8" & 6.5" iPhone 11 models from which they derive.

The 6.1" iPhone 12 Pro gets a display update, & very-likely slimmer borders, but that's NOT a significant design change from the 6.1" iPhone 12.

The points-to-display factor changes for that model from 2x to 3x, which will affect some software out of the gate.

I've heard two rumors over the past few weeks that have caught my attention:

1.) The chassis for the two NON-Pro models is made out of Aluminum.

2.) The two Pro models won't come out till mid/late-Oct.

To this date, the 6 GB of LPDDR5 in the two Pro models is the most-important product attribute of ALL five that simply has NOT received its just Press / Rumor time ! ... it has been Off the Radar of most, but should NOT be ! ... it will provide a very nice "automatic" Performance Boost to those Ready-to-Go CPU-based High-Perf apps !

Very specifically, High-Perf CPU-based apps that currently ONLY run extremely well in the three iPhone 11 models, will see an automatic 20% OR so Perf Boost on the two NON-Pro models !

IMO, the 6.1" iPhone 12 Pro could be the one to get this year !

My recent / current iPhones: 7+ -> XR -> 11 Pro Max

Of the three, I thought the 6.1" XR was right-sized.

Most leakers are saying the event is on Oct 12 or 13th but I feel that's a little late. I certainly hope they come out sooner than that given that I really need to upgrade my XS, but September 10th is a strange day for an event.

So, what is your prediction or analysis for September event? Are iPhones are being announced? or???

the iPhone event is on October 13.
and only iphones will be unveiled. No other hardware.

how is it a strange day? maybe they will announce on September 10 and pre-ordering goes next week or the following week?

If you don't trust leakers, at least trust Apple's CFO.

"Last year we started selling new iPhones in late September, this year we expect supply to be available a few weeks later."

Apple even said iPhones will be delayed by few weeks which means we're looking at 2 weeks maximum. I still believe we'll see a new iPhone before the month of September is over.

..most people use the phrase “a few” to mean “3 or more...”

More importantly, Apple wouldn't need to make such a statement if everything were on track. Most people were expecting September and it has been for nearly a decade.

If it were just a couple weeks late (but still September), Apple wouldn't need to say anything at all. Apple has never talked about an upcoming iPhone launch before.

Arm Macs but not iPhones? I think you’ve got that in reverse bud.

Apple may have to do it that way. The production ramp up for the iPhones is a lot longer than that of Macs, due to sheer volume, and the amount of physical design changes (several new updated and different iPhone designs, vs. same the old iMac/MacBook, but with a faster Apple Silicon chip on the circuit board). They've already announced that they are going to announce ARM Macs this year, and likely don't want that announcement to interfere with the new iPhone announcement event.

That's a good point! so, do you think Jon P. is right and they will release the new iphones in October/November?

We should have a separate Mac event... possibly with the new iPhones but seems so unlikely.

The hype is always generated whenever Apple does something. This is how a market mover is.

Thanks. The mentioned time is still considered late for an Apple event.

That is true. That's also why they are a market mover - because they genuinely know how to use the media to their advantage. Whether it's a calculated move, a bi-product of their test, or a total mistake, it's a quite a smart way to generate free media.

I find this particularly interesting as you don't really see such moves as often or by a large company like Apple.

I agree with you totally. I'm pretty sure Apple will keep their routine and reveal the phones in September, then launch in October as reported in their earnings report.

I mean come on, most if not all people here on this forum is aware, accustomed, and trained by Apple without ourselves knowing for years to expect news on the new phone through a September event. I just highly doubt the accuracy of that "leak" from John Prosser on dates as it just felt like a gimmick/attention seeking leak to get coverage....... (especially when there's not a consequence if he turned out to be wrong)

Thus, there's a difference between "launch" and "announcement/release".........
