I tried this app to see if it would work for college football games. It wasn't good for that, at least in my experience. Scores were updated late (in some cases an hour late) and sometimes not at all. These weren't small teams -- these were teams in the Power 4 conferences.
It probably gets hung up searching for the other ten teams in the PAC-12.

Finally. I've been missing the Live Activities that were previously provided by the TV app and had to install the MLB and NFL apps to make up for it. Now I can just use this and things will be back to normal.
This is what I do, and works well. Not sure I need another sports app.

Half the sports are soccer. I'm not anti-soccer, but there are other sports than soccer and the American major sports that already get too much coverage. Don't see my favs represented.
you mean football right ? ... there are sharing lists of leagues not sports

Still not available in the EU area. When will Apple look at the map and realize that there are other countries in the world?
EU is very anti Apple at the moment. So Apple has little incentive for another fight when a sports app sues them for a native Apple app and says it's anti competitive. There are several Apple Intelligence features that will be worldwide but not for EU coming.

Are some NCAA Football teams missing? I can see top 25 games in the app, but Alabama and Georgia (and probably others) are missing?

What’s stupid is that you have to initiate live activity for sports only after the game starts. I should be able to set it ahead of time or set it so I always get live activity for a particular team, so it appears automatically without prompting EACH GAME.

so does this kinda make dynamic island useless? I mean live scores and updates was one of the reasons dynamic island was touted by Apple. I don't use it myself and forget it is even there.....

"Apple previously said Live Activities are no longer available in the Apple TV app on iOS 18."

This should have been the lede, followed by "... so now you need to get this app if you want to follow live sporting events."
This is actually the first time that I'd heard about that. Glad to know because I would've been confused and annoyed if I had lost Live Activities through the TV app without any obvious replacement.

My favorite feature is that it automatically starts the Live Activity when the games start so I don't have to know when to launch the app and manually tell it to start showing me scores every day.

Maybe when the EU stops attacking Apple at every turn because they are jealous no European country invents anything.

I was using "Sports Alerts" this weekend and was notified of a touchdown before it happened on the TV. SEC game. But other plays lagged... wonder how automated this stuff its?

Says Bundesliga, but I live in Germany and can’t access the app. What nonsense! How many Americans are keeping tabs on Bundesliga scores?!
That's the most ironic part of it all.

I mean, I think it's silly it's not available across all of Europe even if our countries don't have leagues represented but to even have your league as part of the app, but not being part of the target audience is just mind boggling.

If live scores show as activities automatically.. THAT WOULD BE GREAT! It says it in the app, but I need to see it in action to become a believer

After yesterday's game, waiting for the Apple Intelligence update that offers condolences if one of your favorite teams is the Cowboys 🤦‍♂️

It’s interesting, all the games on that screenshot are from September 30 2021. I wonder if that gives any inside to their development timeline.

Or they just picked a random date of games to plug in data from lol

I'm trying to see if it works right now, but no luck. There are no games going on in any of the major American sports leagues right now, so I'm follow a Series A (Italian soccer) game which is in progress. So far there are no scores on the lock screen nor dynamic island.

sigh... if anyone knows an app that does this automatically.. let us know lol.. this is much needed

I’m not really a soccer fan, an not expecting the “less popular” sports I follow to be included, but was disappointed to see that this doesn’t support international soccer games, such as the European championships this past summer.

exactly, same this as the news app which launched in 2015 and is still not available

A lot. Football ⚽️is the number 1 sport in the world, and it’s not even close
