Still in that uncanny valley for me. Zuckerberg almost looks human in that render, it's freaking me out...
Ah yes. Let's compare something that generates an Avatar on a High-end Researcher's computer vs. something that happens on device in minutes. Call me when the Quest 3 can generate something that looks like that with needing to use a High-end, top of the line PC and graphic cards
So in less than a week they got to feed their algorithms the personas of Vision Pro users and get useful data out of it?I bet it needed training data from real world use.
Meta's Codec Avatars are incredible but:
Can you recommend an Apple YouTuber for the class?how about not showing the dumbest YouTuber as an example
Im pretty sure the teams developing these different features are not the same.Call me crazy, and weird, but when it comes to these headsets, I'd be way way happier for them to totally scrap persona's, totally scrap spooky-eye-vision and 100% focus on a MUCH W-I-D-E-R field of view, and pass through quality.
For me, a VR Headset (which this is) is all about MY experience, so I want this to be the best it can be.
If I want to talk to others I have multiple ways to do it already without a Vision Pro.
I want Vision Pro to focus on the things that a headset main function is. MY VIEW.
It's used in other video calling apps too.I don’t want to redo mine. I think it came out perfect. Not that I ever even use FaceTime and it doesn’t seem to be used elsewhere
...that are still cheaper combined than tne AVP. And I thought Apple Silicon was so advanced, with its many unified-memory GPU cores and neural engine?Call me when the Quest 3 can generate something that looks like that with needing to use a High-end, top of the line PC and graphic cards
Hello, fellow alive human! I do like it here on the Earth planet too. I will now show you my teeth in order to convey my trustworthiness.I don’t want to redo mine. I think it came out perfect.

Does MacRumors not have their own YouTuber for their own channel? Can you recommend an Apple YouTuber for the class?
It constantly amazes me how made-up stuff by other companies that isn’t available (and may never ship) beats what Apple is shipping right now. 😆
You think they're not working on that? The team creating personas isn't the same working on the hardware to get a wider FOV.Call me crazy, and weird, but when it comes to these headsets, I'd be way way happier for them to totally scrap persona's, totally scrap spooky-eye-vision and 100% focus on a MUCH W-I-D-E-R field of view, and pass through quality.

And now we run into the opposite problem: It's too HD. That detail is really distracting, that fake greasiness is trying to look realistic but in an awful way, and there's that weird uncanny dead look in those eyes.Meta's latest Codec Avatars are way better than Apple's Personas
If only Apple knew this, they’d be soooo much better. Give them time to bring out version 1.2.I am sure the avatar could be much more sophisticated if the Vision Pro took more images from more perspectives. Prioritizing convenience often is the wrong way. Many users would not mind a 15 minute setup process, if the resulting avatar looked more realistic. That 40 second or so setup obviously is not good enough.
If you look at the 1st iteration and now version 1.1, the difference is quite large. It’ll get better and it’s actually only in Beta. And now we run into the opposite problem: It's too HD. That detail is really distracting, that fake greasiness is trying to look realistic but in an awful way, and there's that weird uncanny dead look in those eyes.
I hate to say it, but that ugly cartoon version of Zuck has more the right idea. A good artistic style ages more gracefully than trying to make the most realistic model possible. The problem is they need to find an artistic style that isn't absolutely atrocious, blinding, or corporate and soulless
You’re probably describing the second generation.Call me crazy, and weird, but when it comes to these headsets, I'd be way way happier for them to totally scrap persona's, totally scrap spooky-eye-vision and 100% focus on a MUCH W-I-D-E-R field of view, and pass through quality.
