Apple Starts Preparing for September iPhone Event

I predict the folding iPhone will be revealed, the article will be filled with the usual comments that seem to essentially say “I don’t want a folding iPhone therefore I don’t see why anyone else would because I cannot comprehend subjective taste”. Followed a few months after launch by an article about how their folding phone is one of the best selling models.

I believe people complain just to try and deter others from purchasing, so that they themselves can get a preorder in.

I'm still rocking an iPhone 11. I'm thinking of going straight for the iPhone 18 Pro. Unless I can find a good deal on a 17 Pro.

I was in Europe last year in the fall, so skipped out on it. Very rare for me. This year I won't travel until October, so I'll be buying. My 16P has had it's day. 😀

Europe would have been nice. I was in hospital hell.

Don't get me wrong. It's a NICE hospital and I received excellent care. I'm still alive and I'm working when there was a good chance I wouldn't have been doing either at this point.

But Europe has to be better. 😉. Anyway, new phone for me this year.

Looking forward to the fold-a-phone reveal. It’ll be interesting to see what it can do (can it run iPad apps? Two iPhone apps at the same time? Enquiring minds want to know).

Yeah, I’m also curious about it. But quite sure that it’s not for me. Damn, even the current iPhones aren’t for me due to their size and weight.

There’s another data I’m curious about: Will it be a niche product, just like the mini or the plus or the Air? Or will it be sold at a volume comparable to, let’s say, an iPhone Pro?

Samsung has also released several curved-display models and other gimmicks over the years. This Fold is basically a technology demo that isn’t going to spread much beyond tech enthusiasts. Other than tech enthusiast is going to pay 2.5 times the price just to unfold their phone and get a screen that’s one inch larger than the Pro Max, especially when there’s still an ugly crease running down the middle that makes the display look like a cheap toy.

The moment the iPhone Fold flops, the other manufacturers will gradually start scaling back or discontinuing their own foldables as well. At best, foldables will remain a niche product.
