The amount of energy it takes to lift my arm, flick out a finger to touch the display an dread what I see is just too much strain on my body.

I feel a class action suit coming on for tapping tunnel syndrome, eye strain and since I have to lift my arm, maybe Tommy John surgery will be needed.
Jeez.

lol.... it feels a bit like that ...

We can't even get up now because it's easy to to switch a light on using our iphone.

$30? Not bad for being sold in the Apple Store. Doesn't beat my much sleeker Spigen aluminum one for $20 though.

Also, it looks like Apple may just continue to stick with contract subsidized pricing despite the carriers phasing them out.

While I have a stand similar to the Spigen (although I like it better, and it only cost $18) I think that the Elevation Labs version, or a similar design will be what is necessary to take advantage of nightstand mode in Watch OS2.

And I hope you're wrong about the subsidized pricing thing. I really don't want to have to go to the Verizon store to buy my phones.

You should try the Spiegen dock that looks similar to the one pictured above but is less expensive. It also has "nano suction" on the bottom so it sticks to any surface. Your cats will not be able to move it, it's extremely solid. I've had it for a week and am very pleased so far. I think I paid $35 including next day shipping from Amazon.
They'll just scratch the hell out of it..... :D.....sapphire displays anyone?

i have the NightStand, it's a great stand. simple. best part is you can mount it vertically on the bed's headboard, for a near cordless look and well away from cats...

I can confirm that the Spiegen doc is working great with both of my cats who are CONSTANTLY on my night stand.

Have you tried Spigen's new Apple Watch stand, the S350? It's only £9.49 and works with Nightstand Mode.

Hang on. You paid $35? Just order straight from Spigen. I paid £9.49 for the stand and the P+P was free!

What do you mean?

I was able to switch to AT&T Next (their non-contract plan) when I bought my iPhone 6+ in an Apple store. So the options are definitely there...

Glad they're getting rid of the iPad pricing displays. They were looking dated, especially on the plexi table stands. Good to freshen up their retail merchandising periodically.

It might be a genius move. Rather than using an iPad to learn about an iPhone, you're picking up the iPhone itself and holding it in your hand... and then probably trying out a few more things, getting the feel of it, getting attached to it.

Oh I don't mean the options aren't there, I meant how they advertise. Since the 3G they've always listed the subsidized prices for the iPhones. Now that contracts are nearly gone, I expected them to stop advertising the contract pricing, as it's becoming irrelevant.

T-Mobile and Verizon no longer offer contracts, Sprint announced their plans to end them very soon, and with AT&T you can't even get a contract-priced iPhone through Apple anymore (I believe).

It makes sense. Putting the pricing on the device the consumer is interested in requires them to interface with that device rather than interact with an iPad if they are looking at a Mac. If it was this way from the start, no one would know any better. iPad signs were great, but they draw you away from what you really want to be looking at.

$29.95 for a watch stand ??? I Paid £9 for a Spigen one on Amazon, and it's excellent

Glad to see the iPad informational displays gone. I always thought those made the product tables look somewhat cluttered and tacky. (I'm somewhat surprised, though. I didn't realize there was a plan afoot to remove them.)

Granted, I'm not sure how intuitive these new "pricing apps" will be for the average customer...

If they were to conceal the iPad of the iPad/Digital signage a bit more (i.e.; like the Apple Watch display signage) - then I guess most consumers wouldn't be confused by them.
But these on screen apps scream of days of old electronics retailers and best buys that had these garbage on screen stuff that really got in the way of the product experience.

I don't know these last few years with Apple retail seem rather strange...a lot of weird unnecessary adjustments in my opinion.

These are apps though not canned demos that you can't get out of. If you want to play with the product and never look at pricing you don't have to open the app.

I got a black NightStand delivered last week (from US to here in UK). It's a quality, solid bit of kit.
Very surprised how well it stays put with its air-suction flat base.
I expected it to slide/move easily if knocked... but it's solid as a rock.

I've been using mine since launch in June and it's got some definite staying power. I've bumped it, pretty hard a couple of times, while cleaning and it's never moved. But if I WANT to move it, that's super easy too.

Now if only NightStand mode on the Apple Watch worked like a little clock. They need to make it have an option for

1. Always on!
2. Change the brightness levels!

Who wants to reach over and try to find a watch to tap in the middle of the night to see the time, I sleep near the middle of a king size bed, my arm doesn't reach that far!! Also when I do hit it, it lights up so much in the room!! Its way to bright!!! Give us the option to adjust the brightness levels to our environment!! It's so simple Apple, you think you would have thought of it.

Personally, I don't think the "pricing" app is easier than the old iPad 2 displays. I really liked the iPad displays. Maybe I'm in the minority on that...

I actually preferred the printed signs that pre-dated the iPad displays. They were simple and elegant and gave the price. Wouldn't mind if they returned to those with maybe a tagline to the effect of "See Pricing App on device for more product information and pricing of custom configurations." It's fine to have more details available in app on the device, but I'd prefer to just see prices displayed for quick comparisons.
