On Amazon the Apple SuperDrive was listed as selling more than 1K in the last month so someone is still buying them. As someone who still collects audio CDs, I use mine often to rip CDs into digital files.
More like supplying people who keep their old devices rather than raw sales number, or making profits because we all now Apple doesn't care about DVD or 3.5mm jack, or 30pin dock anymore. But some people out there still do.Wonder how many of these accessories Apple is able to sell, especially the MagSafe converter
surpised the magic trackpad 2 is 9 years old, but not sure what else I'd need it to do. I love mine.
Years ago, I was like this: new computer, mobile phone, iPod, etc. Not including video game systems always upgraded etc. etc. Seeing how innovation starts changing faster than in years........ I stopped. Being married also caused me to think then having children. Apple products I was always upgrading years. after getting involved in the stock markets. I started to rethink my buying habits. I hold on to my iPad until it needs to be replaced for 5 years, iPhones for 5 years, etc. To me, it's senseless to get the newest devices every %&'%&'% year now.Exactly. I don't see the point of this article. People have older devices and accessories sometimes need to be purchased for them. Not everyone can afford to drop hundreds or thousands on a new device. In some cases a new device might not even exist, like there's no suitable replacement for an iPod, a dedicated music player no longer is sold by Apple.
I also don't understand this obsession with the newest devices and the idea of an older (but functional device) still being sold. It's not like Apple will come to your door and give you the new M3 iPads for free as soon as they are announced. I get if you're in the market for one and you'd prefer to wait a month if something new is coming to maximize the use of your money for a device you'll be keeping for years. But like acting like it's a crime to humanity because the iPad hasn't been updated in 365 days is just absurd.
180 currently and only the smaller one but yeah good deal for those who want one.FYI I believe you can get a link bracelet on Woot for $150
My AOL CD is better served as a coaster though.the superdrive is still need it if you have cds, dvds..
$300 is a perfectly fair price for the feet: it costs $400 to get wheels instead of feet when you purchase the Mac, or $700 to buy the wheels later - leaving you with a spare set of feet. Basic arithmetic tells you that those feetI don't know what's more laughable: The wheels for $699 or the chrome feet for $299.
The majority of people never had Lightning devices to begin with. If we go by what a majority of people use now Lightning is just as insignificant as 30-pin. Also, Lightning has a successor, so if you want to use iPhone, iPad or accessoires like Pencil, Airpods, but don't want to use Lightning, there are newer versions available that don't require Lightning. If you want to use iPod you can't skip 30-pin unless you count that castrated iPhone that is the last iPod Touch in which case you should really just get an iPhone instead.it has been 12 years since Apple switched to Lightning. billions of devices sold with Lightning and USB-C since then. the vast majority of folks do not have 30-pin devices.
That's a good thing. Doesn't hurt anyone to have old accessoires available. I personally still use the 30-pin cable and if those last two cables I have ever break it will be great to find a brand new one in stock at every major retailer. Not sure how this is in any way newsworthy.
Same! I plugged it into my M2 Mac mini the other day to burn a CDI still use my SuperDrive!
I do wish they'd sell wired keyboards.
I use the very last model iPod Classic ever released modified with 1TB of flash storage running rockbox still receiving updates. On first glance it looks no different from any other iPod, but it's got better thought out clickwheel navigation as well as features like a parametric EQ that is night and day compared to what EQ Apple offered for iPods. You don't need iTunes/Finder to sync anymore either but if you prefer it you can sync it just like you would an iPhone.May I ask, what in the world do you use that requires the 30 pin cable?

If you go out right now to buy a small dedicated music player, maybe just because like me you receive a lot of calls and don't want your music to be interrupted every single time - you will soon find that there's either cheap trash or overpriced supposedly high-quality "Hifi" players and finding a used iPod on craigslist is solid middle ground to get a gorgeous looking player with good build quality and depending on the model excellent sound quality and the option to change the storage to 128GB-2TB flash.
I wish there was something more modern and better to use, but we're at a point where modern tech especially from Apple just presumes we always got access to fast internet or a charger nearby. On roadtrips with spotty internet or after running out of battery on the AW/Airpods I just found it best to use a dedicated device that stores my entire library and doesn't need to be recharged more than once or twice a month.
That "crap" you're talking about is what set the foundation for RCS (iMessage) and USB-C (lightning).Apple still not using RCS and only recently got USB-C on their phones. Why is anyone surprised this company uses archaic crap in their products?
I actually had to dig out my old Superdrive the other day upon finding out that my PS5 doesn't play freaking Audio CDs!
(for clarity, I plugged it into my mac, wouldn't it be wild if the PS5 recognised the Superdrive!)
I still use a 3rd gen ipod to listen to music when I want to completely tune out and relax, no distractionsMay I ask, what in the world do you use that requires the 30 pin cable?
