From a PC user's POV, not sure if that's good or bad, if one wants to delve into the Mac world using a MBA; No media/graphics work but personal use with some business (financial) software use. Have to remember that the MBA is non-upgradeable compared to a PC laptop.

I'd love a Midnight one, but I see enough fingerprint oil with my Silver MBP
It's actually not bad. I've been using a Midnight M2 13" since launch and I rarely notice any fingerprint smudges on the chassis itself.

Heavily considering this one when the M3 comes out. The Air is stepping in the right direction for my next Mac purchase. Although, it will depend what Apple decides to do with the MacBook Pro 13-inch model too. I'll hoping it'll be rebranded as the MacBook 13 and 15-inch (but I'll starting to doubt it with the 14-inch model). Still... wonder why the iMac is missing the M2...?

I'll still have my late 2018 mini as a server, so I'll have the desktop to remote into for handling my media (namely music files for my Apple Music and Plex), plus managing other files and Time Machine backups.

These machines run circles around PC's... and some of the higher end PC laptops don't support upgrades either...

I wish these supported more than one external display. I use VDIs for work, so don't exactly need the power of the MBPs, but I do need to be able to run at least two external displays in addition to the built-in one. (Yes, I know there are "hacks" to get around the limitation, but those are generally not recommended.)

Got the base config Air...lol....

I already have:
  • 13-inch M1 MacBook Air - not selling as it was the 1st ever Apple Silicon Mac that Apple ever released, so I am keeping this thing forever! It's a historic item, IMHO
  • 14-inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro - for work

What have you been using? A desktop Mac, or a PC? You will be blown away if this is your first Mac.
I have been using an M1 iMac for the past year, which I now sold to get MacBook funds 😁
Very excited to get a Mac that I can take and use anywhere 😎

BIG $1,000 PRICE JUMP over my loaded M1 Ultra. The loaded Mac Pro Ultra is $11,799 while the fully loaded Studio is $8,799. The $3,000 extra gets access expansion slots...

Sad that my fully loaded $7,200 2022 M1 Mac Studio Ultra has a trade in value today of only $1,500. That's about 80% depreciation in one year.....

My jingle will remain in my pocket.

I ordered a 15" Air in both Space Gray and a Midnight to see which one I prefer in person in that size - should arrive on 6/13. I love the Midnight on the 13", but may prefer Space Gray on the 15", we shall see.

I am going to use this this as my main remote working Mac as it's a relatively thin an light option with the all too important large display. I opted for the nicely spec'd 16GB/1TB tier as that is more than enough for my needs for this use-case. My 16" MBP was just too bulky for my needs, so that will be sold as I don't need that kind of power (or bulk) for what I do.

My 13" M2 Midnight Air is still my main 'everything' and all media on-the-go Mac, so that is maxed out spec wise. One of my all-time favorite Macs.

My M2 Mac mini and 27" Apple Studio Display look nice on my desk, lol. For some reason, I don't use that setup as much as I thought I would. It's nice to sit at a desk while at home every now and then, though. I have a feeling I'll be using it even less when the 15" Air arrives.

After today's keynote event that saw the introduction of iOS 17, the AR/VR headset, a range of new Macs, and more, Apple has brought its online store back up so that customers can begin preordering the new devices.

Apple's 15-inch MacBook Air is priced starting at $1,299, while the Mac Studio is priced starting at $1,999. The M2 Ultra Mac Pro is priced starting at $6999.

The 15-inch MacBook Air, M2 Max and M2 Ultra Mac Studio, and M2 Ultra Mac Pro can be preordered starting today, with a launch to follow next week.

Apple's AR/VR headset, which also debuted today, is not going to be available for purchase until early 2024.

No new iMacs today??? They are so old what’s in the Apple Store now. Over 800 days old! Nobody wants to buy old outdated computers. 😡

It's cheaper than I was expecting
Yes it’s not too bad actually. When you consider what your getting for your money, a very powerful and thin 15” laptop, that will be good enough for at least 6-7 years (maybe more) for £1,400, it’s a pretty good deal. Amazon U.K. will definitely knock off £100 in a few months also. When you take off VAT then it’s £1,120 which is $1393 (US pricing does not include VAT).

The problem is the 20% VAT.
Even in high tax NYC, the tax is only 8%. In Delaware, 0%.

The taxes in UK/EU are outrageous.
Rather silly often repeated comment.
Europe taxes higher, but you get more govt services for your money.
US taxes less, but you have to pay yourself for many things (eg. healthcare, et al.).

Which is better is open to political analysis, but the general thought is that US peeps pay a LOT for healthcare but get near instant access to treatment, whereas Europeans pay less but have longer waiting lists, at similar outcome levels. For one example of many.

Every Mac is now M2 except for the iMac. Odd.

I'm thinking there's going to be a separate iMac event later this year (October? November?) once TSMC mass produces sufficient quantities of the M3 chip. There was a separate M1 iMac event (Spring Loaded) in April 2021 since it (M1 iMac) didn't get announced with the other M1 Macs during their One More Thing event in Nov. 2020.

Then the rest of the consumer Mac line-up (Mac mini, MacBook Air) will get M3 chips in early 2024 while MacBook Pro's will get M3 Pro and M3 Max chips then.
