Is it Wi-Fi models only going for pre-order tonight, or cellular too (but shipping later)?

Also, why didn't iPad 4 make the jump to nano-SIM (like the iPad mini and iPhone 5)?

Same question as zinman. About 2 weeks ago, an 'angel investor' gifted me the ipad3 for grad school use from Best Buy.

It's going back for the 4, but no one seems to know about availability at the non-apple retailers.

Do people still expect the iPad refresh to happen again in March? I'm guessing the full-size iPad update this month means the iPad cycle is being shifted to fall - iPods, iPads, and maybe even iPhones will refresh together from now on.

iPhone 5 seemed different. iPad Mini is just an iPad 2 in a smaller form factor. Next gen iPad Mini will be something worth looking at.

True. You think new minis and 5th gen. iPad in March? Could these 2 just be for the holiday sales rush? (I bet they got 5th gen iPad and 2nd gen iPad mini cooking up)

Can't wait!! First time ordering online launch from Apple! I can't wait to actually order from a site that wont have problems for first day orders.

32 gb wifi mini for me. I wanted the ipad 4, but I think they will drastically change the design next year. I'll wait until then for the ipad 5, and let the mini suffice.

I just wanted to get into the Apple Store to see if I could order an iPhone 5 for in-store pick up tomorrow, but I can't get in.... Looks like I'll have to wait a couple more hours...:(

Hopefully they start pushing out iTunes 11 when they come back. :O

The funny thing is, it still say's it'll be out in October, even though there's only 5 days left of October lol.

Getting the WiFi 16GB iPad Mini for my nephew's birthday.

Skipping iPad 4th Gen, as I did with the iPhone 5.

I guess some people might look at it that way, but I think Apple's just shifting the release cycle to later in the year. Combined with the move to a new connector it was in their best interest to switch the i-lineup to it early rather than late, otherwise they could've waited a year and a half to release the iPad 4.

What I haven't figured out yet is why on earth they're keeping the iPad 2 in their lineup... with the 30-pin connector, that is. I can appreciate Apple's fondness for product tiers and pricing ladder, but they could've made a clean break here and moved forward with just one connector type for all their i-products. Now they're just postponing the inevitable by a year or less.

This. Apple wants to release these hot products for the holiday shopping season. Also, they want to release the new iOS version with all the new hardware at the same time for maximum impact.
