Two gift cards totalling $75 redeemed on Apple. That will just cover the tax, LOL. But as there's no down payment, I won't have to pay anything today as Apple applies those credits before trying to charge Apple Pay. I preordered yesterday. iPhone 15 Pro Max in blue titanium 256GB storage. I store most things in iCloud. I'm upgrading from an iPhone XS so it's been a while. My XS works great still and looks perfect. I'm keeping it to use for music and podcasts (WiFi) when working outside when I might drop it on the driveway or something.

The gift cards were from my health insurer as rewards for getting preventoive test and my annual wellness visit. Second one came yesetrday so great timing.

I assume that they have to do a lot of reconfiguration of servers in order to handle the huge volume of orders which hits when ordering opens. People complain when they can't get their order in at 5 am. Delays can run 20 minutes or more. Vaguely remember that they set up a special crisis center to stage the rollout. It seems that they don't enable ordering everywhere from all partners at the same time. Looked as if they enable some ordering channel, evaluate the load, and then enable others as capacity is available. Not only do they have to worry about their servers but they also have to handle the orders from 3rd party carriers. I would think that increasing server capabilities by (10x?) times is a complicated task.
It's 2023. Every tech company worth their salt has auto-scaling architecture where servers increase automatically to handle increased load. Also, online shopping is a low compute task. You don't need much hardware to handle many users.

You don’t know where the fella is based at. For example, it’s 11am where I am and I wanted to check something else on Apple’s website. For me it was just a little annoyance. Point is, the rest of the world doesn’t live in your time zone.

I’m in Cupertino. It kinda does

Do you remember the days when you needed iTunes to activate phones, and the whole system would crash due to volume? I remember Jobs freaking out over that.

My 14Pro battery health is 87% after one year. This is the last iPhone I ever get. That is unacceptable.

My 14 Pro battery is also 87%, but I'm getting the 15 PM for the camera. :) My wife's, that arrived at the same minute and was set up at the same time is still at 100%. I do use mine more, but it isn't ideal that mine is so much worse than her's.

Perhaps it is usage, charging, a different internal component, a bad batch or something else or some combination, but it isn't ideal. For me it is just a cost of using the phone for a year. Annoying, but not a deal breaker.

I did a pre-order, but I don't care about the color, just the storage on the 15 PM.

I might go for white or blue - mainly because of the glass.

I think the glass portion is tinted - so maybe for the first time in a long while, I might be interested in colour.

I mean usually I don't care about colour since I always have it in a case, so you don't even see the colour.

The white looks much more interesting but the natural titanium seems the most popular with the reviewer crowd!

Hopefully the 15pm battery fares better after a year. I’m either going to trade this in or replace the battery, or even perhaps give the pixel a try come October. I shall decide then. For now I’m not doing anything. Just disappointed.

I am too, but at least it is mine and not her's since she doesn't want to upgrade as often as I "need" to. Truly though I take 98% of the photos and videos when we do stuff so cameras are important.

MR editors need to design a ready made script for such a article because every time a new iphone is released Apple pre-order website goes down and then we see the same posts year after year of the same complaints about not being able to pre-order and this has happened year after year after year.
