Apple Store Down Ahead of iPhone 4 Pre-Orders

i was on hold for 15 minutes when i called the apple store. i couldn't get through for a while (circuits busy etc.). then when i did get through, i clicked on the iphone sales option (or something similar) and the system said "too busy" "high call volumes" etc. and told me to call again later and hung up. so i did call again later (about 5 seconds later), but instead of going through the iphone option, i told the system i needed help with macbook sales. i waited and waited and the chic on the phone (who was not very friendly - probably sick of getting iphone 4 calls - either that or she hates her job) told me she couldn't help and that i had to "call tomorrow" EST time at 8:00 AM to talk with the iphone sales dept. She said she couldn't answer any of my questions. she wasn't nice at all.

You really can't buy unsubsidized on the Apple site.

You can walk into a (bricks-and-mortar U.S.) Apple Store, wave a bunch of money around, and walk away with an unsubsidized phone.

If I understand correctly, you can walk into many other Apple Stores on this planet and buy unsubsidized (full retail) iPhones. In many countries, it is apparently unnatural for a mobile operator to offer a carrier-subsidized handset.

The U.S. Apple Store is where you can only buy subsidized iPhones though.

I want to get on there to look into buying stuff that is not even remotely related to the iPhone. But because of this whole site shutdown I can't.

Why would you do that? It will be on sale when it's on sale. Stop harassing these poor people!

/Call ATT and harass them, they deserve it.

I can't decide either. I need to see both in person at the store before I can be sure. I'm sure you'll be able to switch it at the store if you change your mind. That's if they don't sell out of the white ones before hand.

I doubt it's even much. It's quite annoyingly conceited. I would love for Apple to go under just so this guy stops bragging about something no one cares about.
