I honestly wouldn't bother except I've been wanting to change carriers for 6 months and I don't want to have to wait another 2 because they get back-ordered. I've been waiting for this phone to come out so I can get on Verizon.

How likely do you think they are to get backordered? And how soon does pre-order usually end?

I want to personally pick it up in store after buying it online.
can someone tell me whats the procedure?
is there any waiting in the store? or I just come and take?
Thanks!

According to a MacRumors article, as well as my own chat with an online sales rep on Apple's website, they'll have some phones for those who wait in line on a first come first serve basis. Those who pre-order and select to do in-store pickup will be able to go at 8AM (or whenever your local Apple Store opens) and stand in the line. Once they get to you in the line, you give them your identification, card used for the purchased, and probably some email or form with numbers all over it. After that, they give you your phone, activate it, and send you on your way.

Either that or everything goes wrong and the world ends

It was a few years ago that I did it but pre-orders had a separate line at the Apple store. They took people from both lines simultaneously but the pre-order line went pretty fast because they were pre-processed. If you show up an hour or two after they open the pre-order line might even be gone and you won't have to wait. Those without pre-orders had a long slow line. You had until closing to pick up your order.
So it wasn't that bad.
I'm going with delivery which is agonizing because I know it won't show up until 3PM but at least I don't have to schlep down to the store.

I do not watch commercials. And I am currently in the UAE, on my way to the pool. It is rather hot here, so it is going to be a good late morning swim. Good day.

Oh...

Okay....

Have fun?

I can go to the apple store only after 4 PM so if my phone is not guaranteed then I will continue with the delivery :(

Im hopefully going for a 16gb 6 Gold on Verizon. Just got a 4s before they announced the new phones. I know it was stupid but hey I needed a phone. Going to add a line with verizon, then move the 6 to the 4s line, and trade in the iPhone 4s to pay off the iPhone 6 on the credit card. Hopefully that will work, since verizon is giving $200 trade in value on older models. Hopefully apple will let me add a line.

Do you guys think now is a good time to put my credit card info into the payment section of anywhere? In the app is that even possible?

I think over the two year time it will end up costing you ALOT more.

Pre-orders go and go. Eventually people start seeing delivery dates later than the 19th. One week, then two weeks. Eventually they cut it off. It could be 8 hours, it could be 2 days before they cut it off. It depends on demand and supply obviously.
So late people can still preorder for one or two week later delivery or go to the Apple store before opening every day and take their chances on how much stock they got that day.

I have no idea if it'll be that crazy this year. I've heard people say that if you go to Radio Shack on launch day or after there's never a line because no one goes there to for iPhones. Also I've been told that Verizon corporate stores are usually not bad for walk ins on or after launch day.

So if you wait you'll be able to get one but it may be annoying and you may have to put effort in.

I know someone who knows someone at Apple (LOL) that said iPhone production has been going on for some time and there's a ton of stock. But who knows how bad demand will be this year. I have no clue.

My AT&T contract officially ends on the 22nd and the upgrade eligibility tool on Apple.com said I was good to go for the lower price.

So that's a little hope for you? May as well wait the 45 minutes and find out!

That's why I did a screenshot earlier this week

Try to double check, but in a previous year if you pre-ordered your phone is reserved. Come to think of it I think you had 2-3 days to pick it up, not just one. It's not a bad way to go if you don't want to have to wait around for the fedex guy.

So sad. I'm in the "want my phone to be great but not feel it in my pocket ". Crowd. So these bigger phones are a huge disappointment. I've had every iPhone so far. I will feel the smaller one and hope I like it. But I hope this's isn't the beginning of the end for my iPhone relationship. First time ever I haven't looked at upgrading with pre order. :(

think of it this way, you only have to live with your decision for 1 year because next year something better will be out and you'll have to do it all over.
And to answer your other question... if you need it. Look up questions like "is 2 gigs of ram enough or should i get 4gb" and replace the word ram with "Memory" hah
True, the 6“s” will be out next year most likely with image stabilization like the plus. And seems like getting more space is better, too, especially if I'm going to be taking more slo mo videos.

U mean 128GB.
Yep, oops!

Don't feel like sifting through 11 pages to see if someone asked this question...

Is it possible to add two phones and upgrade two separate lines in one checkout process? [They are on the same account]

Probably not, so I'd prepare 2 tabs and go for it.

I also doubt that these will sell out as quickly as everyone is imagining they will
