I missed out on that info- when/where did Jobs say this?

How did everyone miss this? It was part of his keynote. It is his desire to update a product every week of 2008.
Still no official confirmation of the rumored media event next week. Time Capsule today, MPB next week (if there's no media event announced) is my guess.

are you sure your right about that? can you tell use Mins and Secs into the keynote so we can see for our selves ?

Interesting......Engadget is already reporting that they saw the iPod shuffle price drop to $49 before the store went down, so they don't think that's the big news.........

what ever it is we will know very soon, all the previous tuesdays the store has gone back up at 1.30 GMT and its now 1.28 GMT :)

Reload script

I found this little nice script which saves you from manually reloading the AppleStore. When AppleStore opens up this script will open Safari and load AppleStore.

Code:
#!/bin/bash

while [ "0" = "0" ]
do
curlgrep=`curl http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore 2>/dev/null | grep "back soon"`
if [ "$curlgrep" = "" ]
then
osascript -e "tell application \"System Events\" to display dialog \"Apple Store back online\nhttp://store.apple.com\"" &
open http://store.apple.com
exit
else
echo "Still down"
fi
sleep 30
done

Save as for example applestore.sh.
Open up terminal and write chmod +x applestore.sh (you need to navigate to the place where you saved your file)
Finally ./applestore.sh to run the script.

Yup the shuffle had its price drop before the Store went down. You could still access the Store and see the new prices of the shuffle's

Back up!

All that time and it's just the shuffle price...
They should get some one who can type $49 quicker...

Yes when I checked early this morning, all the shuffles were $49. I also noticed the refurb price was lowered on the iMac 24" alum. to $1500.

its much more exciting that just a price drop for the 1gb shuffle... looks like they have introduced a 2gb model......

Just the shuffle price then and a new 2GB version. :( Jeez, this is getting boooorrrrrriiiiinnnnnnnnnngggggggg now. Hope Apple deliver something special with the iPhone SDK.

$49=£49!

Wow - so no MBPs then - but the $49 shuffle is pretty sweet. It's almost worth buying another one for that price, but here in the UK it has not been updated and is still £49 ($100) - twice the price!
