While I don't think the iPod Shuffle needed a "Store is down" event, it is nice to see the price drop. Shuffles are very convenient. I (ab)use mine far more than my iPod 5g.

Yes it is. It's on Apple's front page '"2 GB coming soon" and then on the Shuffle page "2 GB coming soon for $69"

:apple:Dal

Sorry, but it's not on my front page of the store, or the shuffle page of the store. i do see it on the gateway page to the Apple site where they have an article about the price drop, if that's what you're talking about.

Oh well... there is always next Tuesday... that should be a big one... or another letdown at this rate... :(

Why do people get excited about an 2GB Shuffle? I find the current model almost unusable - I fail to see how even an 64GB model is adding value...

Really? I have a 5th gen video & a itouch , but i really want a 2gb shuffle for on the go. It's light and easy.. and I wouldn't cry if i accidentally lost it or broke it.
Sometimes the other 'pods are just too heavy and cumbersome.

What I mean is: What can a 2GB model do that a 1GB can not?
In shuffle mode the difference should be neglectable, since you are not going through it in one go anyway.
In linear mode the Shuffle becomes even more unusable since the pain to access anything particular is growing with the amount of stored content...

49$ in the US, £49 in the UK

I am desperately waiting for an updated MBP. I have been waiting till I had the money together, and now I do Apple seem to be toying with those of us who are waiting.

What surprises is me is, while I understand that a drop from $79 to $49 is good news for those wishing to buy a shuffle in the US, that in the UK the shuffle has stayed at £49.
Given that currently 1 US Dollar = 0.51161 British Pound this is just beyond belief.

Anyway, I can't wait much longer... I may just have to buy an existing spec MBP and be done with it.

Tatster.
